2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission dim map lights

Just curious if anyone has ran into this problem before.



My map lights(overhead console) comes on real dim when I turn on my running lights. I mean real dim, they look to be just a faint orange glow. It just started doing this. All my bulbs are good, inside and out. I assume I am getting some type of feedback or that I have a ground problem.



I'm not quite sure where to start in diagnosing this problem.

Anyone have any helpful hints?

When I had weird problems like that a few years ago with my '00, it turned out to be the drivers door switch.

no hints but I have the same thing happening

I would start checking all the easy to get to ground wires especally around the battery, radiator, bat to eng block. easy stuff first. After that i,m lost. good luck

How long has yours been doing it?



Its really odd that I don't see any glow from the interior dome light, just the maplights.

probably a year and yes, just the map lights, I thought maybe they were supposed to be that way but they don't dim with the dash lights so I guess not

Clearance Lights

Does your truck happen to have clearance lights?? I just added Clearance lights to my truck and did not put a little piece of foam under the light over the map lights. You can see the dim yellow glow of the overhead clearance lights throught the map lights. It may be that your little piece of foam has degraded and is now gone.
