Anyone had experience changing the multi-function dimmer switch on the steering column? My high beams don't work and I've traced it back to this switch. Is this a dealer only item as I suspect and cost?

It is a dealer item for all I know. Someone replaced one a while back. But I can't remember who it was. I hope he jumps in here.

Believe it or not - I'm kinda shocked - AutoZone has it listed on their website. It's Wells part #SW984, says "combination dimmer, turn signal, and wiper switch," and lists for $54. 99. :) Even more surprising - it's a stocked item, at least at the store near me.

If you don't have an AutoZone nearby, you can also get it at www.expressautopats.com - they have two listed:

AC Delco #C6224, $59. 41

Standard #DS-739, $87. 18

PartsAmerica/Checker Auto - http://www.partsamerica.com - also has one listed - GP Sorensen #LS268 - but it's more expensive at $97. 99.

This is, of course, assuming you have intermittent wipers - nobody showed a listing for without.

I just changed mine recently. Wish I had shopped around more, I paid about $120 from Carquest Autoparts.

The changeover was not hard. :)
