bad news. 94' 4x4 started spitting oil out the dipstick the other day. oil pressure normal-no unusual noise. is there a way for dummy to check compression? 5spd 72,000 mi. #5 plate, no hard use, no hot rod driving... Help!
Check that your blowby tube didn't somehow get kinked or plugged. I once ran across one that blew oil out the dipstick, truck had been parked for several months and bees filled the tube up solid.
Normally when oil spits out the dipstick tube indicates that you have blowby from your rings. Take it to a cummins shop and have a monometer(sp?) put on your engine and it will tell you what piston is the culprit. Hope it's not serious.
illflem, i think you're talking about the condensation line that drips on the garage floor. I'll check it right now. i could see about 4grand flying out the window. i didn't think of that, if it had a pcv valve i'da gone there first. Thanks for the quick reply.
wdaniels thanks. that or a busted piston was my first thought. if it isn't the condensation line or blowby i'll get to cummins and put a mona. . monom... guage on it to check the cylinder
illflem i'd never have found it as it has only rained . 6 in. here in Tucson this year and i never would have checked that closely but there was sandy mostly caked mud way up in the blowby tube. monkey business? i don't know but i'll sleep well tonite for the first time in a week. thanks to W.
