Directway satilite internet

Exactely, what does it do?



Implies satelite internet. What speed upload / download? I have been looking at using cell phone data subscription. Finite . xx /min. You purchase xxmegaBytes (big B Bytes) of bandwidth.



Would like to find a GOOD way to internet on the road. Modem very spotty, slow, dependent on local phone line quality which often is POOR.

Unlike DirecTV, DirecWay requires a certified installer to install and aim the dish. The dish has to be adjusted very percisely or you will receive crosstalk on the transmit and receive channels. This will cause all kinds of problems with your connection.



My next door neighbor is a trainer for the installers. He went through the entire set up procedure with me. To do the final stages of the set up you have to actually call a tech at Direcway and they look at your signal on the Satellite give you directions on fine tuning it.



I do know one guy who has one on his travel trailer but he has been certified as an installer.

I use Verizon cell phone service for internet on the road. The speed isn't much (14K), but the service is basically free anywhere on their digital network. You do have to pay for air time, but if you use it mostly on nights and weekends, that's basically free to.



They also offer a high speed (100k or so) internet service, but that is more costly. About $70 / month for unlimited use, and $30 or so for light use.

I use a sprint card in my computer that is mounted under my seat of my 97. I work great and is cheap. $250 for the card and free service with my sprint phone. I used to install/ sell starband. It is directways competitor. While it is faster it is certainly not worth the hassle.
