Dirty fuel anyone?

This is a filter from my auxiliary tank... that's rust, and a lot of it. Here's the kicker, its only ever been been behind an aluminum tank. And I know the tank was clean when I installed it. So I got a batch of crud from somewhere...



The reason I pulled it was it was restricting flow... its a water blocking filter, so I figured it had absorbed enough water to restrict flow, but now I think it was dirt.

I have mentioned WHAT 100 times before that water is by far more likely to damage CR injection systems. . In your case the rust looks like flakes ,So water was present to create the rust flakes when contained in steel container. . All the Popular direct injection certified fuel filters will fail at at getting the water out of the commercially refined fuel we have today. Under certain conditions the water will separate and pool together, thus causing rust. If the fuel sits contained in either CP3 or injectors for x period of time it will separate and pool together causing rust and failure of component's.

This is a water blocking filter. Its designed for a gravity feed system, and this filter actually absorbs water; and blocks flow once it fills with water. I have not seen water in any of my downstream filters.

A batch of water (gallons) is the reason I installed this auxiliary system, and prefilter all my fuel. This setup allows the fuel to sit for a while and water to settle out, it is then ran slowly through the filter... something the OE system doesn't allow to happen.

I'm trying not to lose another set of objectors...

Water Blocking,Water Separating filters are entire different then Water absorbing filters. . the chemicals that are in modern day fuel will absorb the water until its separates again. . this can happen in injectors, lines, pump. The auxiliary system is the ticket. . Those who claim that direct injection and filtration is good enough. . it works 97% of the time,its the 3% thats going to cost $$$$

A water blocking filter can be a water absorbing filter... mine is termed a water blocking but it contains material that absorbs water (and stops fuel flow when the media is full of water). If you look at the media, you'll notice its extremely thick. Obviously this wouldn't be a good choice for a main filter as it could cause issues while driving down the road... but for a primary filter, it works well.



I could see the water dropping out of suspension if you don't run a lot of fuel and your truck sits a lot. However, I also think this fuel is also hygroscopic, and attracts water; just like the new gasoline.
