Disable email notifications

I searched but cannot find an answer. How do I disable email notifications? Every time I post in a thread I start getting emails when someone else posts. I can click on that email and disable it but it's a pain to do that every time. Is there a way to just stop all the emails period?

I already unchecked everything in the "messages in thread" section. Do I need to uncheck everything on that page? For instance, when you replied I got an email, I want to stop that

The notification should have more than one link. One to stop receiving email from that thread, another to stop all emails.

I just went to the page and NOTHING was checked. A few days ago I removed all the "Checked boxes" then everything is now coming to my "JUNK MAIL" inbox on my iMac.

Thoughts???

@TDRAdmin4 That does not work. I have tried and tried. It works for one thread but as soon as I comment on a different thread I start getting emails all over again. You still have these turned on in your settings:

• Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply...
  • and receive email notifications of replies

When you unsubscribe from all, you're not changing your settings - you're unsuscribing from all existing threads being watched/notified.

Reply to a new item, and you're subscribing to it because the subscribe settings haven't changed in your settings. So you need to both unsubscribe to get rid of previous notification/watched items, and also turn off notification/watching for new items in the preferences:

I think maybe something is not working quite right with the preference settings. I did a little test. I turned off the show online status and even logged off and back of, it still shows on my post that I am online?????

Online status is cached to reduce database queries and caches it for 60 minutes - it's not real time.

You're looking at the wrong tab.

There is "Preferences" and "Alert preferences"

You want to go to "Preferences" and it should look like that >>>
(That's the tab that goes for the Email notification)

Then at the "Alert preferences" (the one that your picture above shows) it should look like that.>>>>

No need to disable everything on this tab because that tab only is for the info that pops up on the Homepages upper right corner.

Those are settings going forward for alerts for anything new you do, not anything previously subscribed to. You're still subscribed to dozens of past threads.

You have to both turn off notifications to future threads you reply to (which the page you put in the screen shot), and threads you subscribed to in the past.

To remove subscriptions to threads subscribed to in the past, use the unsubscribe from all link in the email (and the unsubscribe from just that thread link).

All past items are in your watched thread and watched forums in your settings pages. Here's a direct link to watched threads -> see all watched threads:

There's a link on the right side to manage past subscriptions.

Watched threads and delete everything in this folder. Then you are set.

Thank you! I kept looking under and disabling everything under the alerts sections. I just wen to the preferences and there was still a "send email" box checked. Hopefully that should solve my issue!

Yes it's a little bit difficult because it's on 3 different locations.
Once figured out it works.
I like to have the Alerts on the homepage turned on but Email only for PMs on.
