Do you have the stock elbow? You need a aftermarket elbow that will give you a little more boost but still open wastegate and keep drive psi inline also.

I would plug it and see if it does go above 35 if not it will run strong. The elbows are tricky cause they just delay the pressure to the WG no matter how you set it eventually the WG sees 22 and opens, your boost will peak every time you goose it and then fall back to 20-23. With the plug you can hold above 22 with half throttle or less, very nice towing. With stock sticks and a timing only type box you shouldn't see over 36 if that ever.

If I still had stock sticks and Hx 35 I wouldn't ever run it unplugged. Its too laggy for a little turbo, on the bottom just to fall off as soon as it peaks IMO. Then again you could say im spoiled with my lighning quick PS62

I plugged it about a week ago. It helped my turbo stay lit on longer up hill grades. I can hold about 25# boost on a fairly steep grade at 70 mph with a 5 spd. Used to have to drop to 4th to keep egts in check (below *1200) on same hill. WOT i see about 33# boost.

Thanks to everyone for the info

According to your sig you'll be adding a set of Mach 2's. Before you do that put the elbow back in. That will be too much fuel for a disabled wastegate on a 35.

Thats what you will hear, followed by a big BANG. Then you can fish turbo parts out of your exhaust and pull your intercooler out of the truck to get the oil out of it.

I would be real carefull once you add big injectors. I ran an HY35 with a disabled wastegate for a while, untill I realized that it was actually hurting my performance.

Go find the thread on "What is a Hobbs switch" and read it. There are other ways to disable a wastegate that might work better. You should also go read the thread on NWBombers by Diesel Freak (49X Hp, xxxx. Tq, hits like a hammer or some similar name) Its quite informative on a "new" way to partially disable a wastegate.
