All I want to do is listen to the stereo with the door open but this damn chime keeps going off.

Can I disable the chime and still have the cab lights to work ?

any ideas ??

if you close the door latchin the edge of the door, the chime will go off but you will also lose the dome light. but if you open the pass. door the light will work with no chime

I used a scrap piece of 1/8 aluminum & bent it in kinda of a long c shape that I stick in between the door & the switch. I made it so that if somebody does try & close the door it will flex & pop out easily without hurting anything.

I had he same beef with my '98, so I found the box containing the chime under the dash and disavled it by driving a screw against the chime diaphragm just hard enough to silence it. It will still draw some current, so don't leave the door open forever, but you don't have to listen to it. I've heard that you can't remove the chime without affecting other stuff. To reach the box on mine, you remove the dash panel just under the steering wheel, and the box is just to the right of the column, held against the backside of the dash by a couple of screws. Box is about 3x5 size. Booger to get to and remove.

I think its in your owners manual a sequence you go through to disable it or the door locks or you can go to the dealer and they can disable it.

I cut the wire to the key-in sensor. Not sure what I'm missing out on, but I don't miss the chime.

Has anyone made this work on the 04 models?

Scrappy is right. Just flip the door latch on the edge of the door down like it is in the "closed" position and the chime will not sound even if the key is on. Just make 100% sure you remember to cycle a door handle to release it if you plan on closing the door without embarassing yourself. :-laf
