One disadvantage of having a large tailpipe is that it attracts nesting birds. Today as my wife and I were sitting on the deck, we noticed a bird flying in and out of my tailpipe with nesting material. We watched for some time and I was able to snap a couple of photos. We took my wife's car on our outing today and when we came back I fired up my truck. Out came an almost complete nest!:--) I could not believe it. I thought I would share this funny story with you and I posted a picture of the bird in the tail pipe.

That thought crossed my mind after I bought the 5" exhaust. Also wondered about cats climbing in. :-laf Haven't caught one yet.

We have accidentally, unbeknown to us prior to firing it up, killed a few cats that climbed into the piping for the grain vac. Not very pleasant getting them out of the rotary valve. They can get wedged in pretty tight.

If only it were that simple to evict the birds that have been nesting on my balcony...

I'm waiting until the youngin's are gone... then that nest is history.

Hope that wasn't the endangered Featherbellied Rumptwitch! My great state of CA has fixed that bird-nesting problem by having a CAT installed further up the pipe! :)

LOL,

The same exact thing has been happening to my tuck. The dang sparrows have been trying to build a home in my tailpipe for the past two months. I'll start the truck up, and the **** goes flying all over the driveway:D

There's no black soot in that pipe. Looks like your running too lean. They don't go near my 6 inch stack tip. It's too dark in there for them I guess.

Hmmm, maybe someone has to start manufacturing an exhaust tip with a critter proof screen. Or maybe a cage, yah that'll really throw off everyone else next to you in traffic, wondering "is that to keep stuff out or something in?"... ...

with my race car, the joke was always, "It's got an exhaust large enough for small animals to crawl into. " Now you've gone and proven it!

In California you would not be able to remove the birds because it is now habitat. The pipe could not be removed, and the truck could not be statred, it would have to stay parked untill the nesting baby birds are gone.
