I wanted to get the hard well water out of my system after doing the hose flush; so, after putting in new coolant last month, it was bugging me (don't want any build up contamination) I heard some say (and it's in this months TDR too), to take off the lower radiator hose to get most all of it out.

So this weekend, I drained the radiator at the valve. Then got the lower radiator hose off (after some bloody fingers and knuckles), jacked up the rear of the truck and got another 1/2 gal. or so out. THAT'S IT!

Last time I got 4 gal. in total. This time 4. 5 gal. total. What's the deal? Where'd the other 1. 5 gal. of coolant go?

Next time I'm definitely getting the pressure tester to "blow" it ALL out.

We have two areas that cause the total drain and slow to purge air problems.

The heater core inlet and outlet is the cooling system high point.

The rear part of the block will not drain well unless you open the block port. This is between #5 & #6 cylinders on the driver's side behind the fuel filter.

It needs a blow out job to better clear up things.
