I have had my new truck for just over a week and it is already dirty. One would think that the engineers with all the new technology available could make an expensive truck that would stay clean longer than a week.

Actually I'm quite pleased with the truck. We had a big rain in Phoenix that got it all dirty. It drives and handles great, rides pretty smooth for a big truck and everything works OK. I just filled up for the first time and had a calculated 16. 9 mpg (412 miles and 24. 4 gallons). I must have not filled it up all the way. If it was 2 gallons short it would be 15. 6 mpg; if 4 gallons short 14. 5 mpg. I don't think I would have missed it by 4 gallons though. None of those mpg numbers are bad for a first tank. The console was reading 15. 3 average.

How much variation in gallons do you usually get when filling up? Is two or three gallons variation typical?

I can get an extra three gallons into the tank after the pump clicks off. It has to do with the lack of a vent at the rear of the tank.

This thread

discussed it at length.

As far as I know, noone has yet run a breather from the rear of the tank to the fill neck. I may drop my tank and try this as the wife is getting another truck and we'll have a spare vehicle.

I am able to get 3. 5 gals more fuel in after the pump first clicks off. It is a slow go to top the tank offand not burp fuel out on to the paint but I do every fill up as I manually check mileage as the upper console is always off .

Your mad because your truck is dirty within a week  mine is dirty after i get home from the car wash :(... Its because of those big 315's :) :)
