I heard a rumor that the E Series vans were going to be discontinued. I wouldn't be asking except that this would impact current and long range replacement for ambulances at the fire department I work at. If you have information about this would you please lead me to the source to confirm it? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I checked there but just found their propaganda. The site is geared more towards sales. (they really need them)

True. Our department was planning on going with the f550 chassis and We were told that ford is no longer offering the Van and pick up cab and chassis for ambulances. I guess this is due to the emmissions equip and concerns with heat and placement of the equipment

This was a hot topic on some of the ford sites including tds a few weeks ago. The story that seemed to be accepted over there was that the E series still existed but that you could not get it with a diesel. The feeling was that the 6. 4L diesel was too large to get under the hood of the E series leaving on the gas engine options. This is only internet knowledge so take it with a grain of salt.

I would think the Sprinter Van or Cab and Chassis would be just as useful for an ambulance conversion . Available with the MB 3. 0 liter diesel as well.
