As a citizen of Canada, and one of your two nearest neighbours... Let me say to my U. S. friends and neighbours...

I am, on behalf of my friends, neighbours and associates truly saddened and disturbed by todays events. Let me extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sadness on the terrible events of today.

Our two countries may dissagree on one issue or another but when push comes to shove, we must stand shoulder to shoulder against this kind of insanity.

Please know that all the people I have spoken with here in my area agree, there can be no justification for such savagery on innocent civilians.

Thank you Bob for those kind words. As I recall it was some of your fellow Canadiens who saved the bacon (pun intended as we need a small touch of levity to help off set the massive grief) of many of our Embassy folks in a nasty little place called Tehran about 22 years ago. When it comes to hockey each of us may talk SMACK, but when the defecation hits the rotary oscillator, it is ovbious on whom each of us can count to do the righteous thing. ^5 to our Northern neighbors.
