Which Trailer To Buy? HELP!!!

I just purchased a Weight distribution hitch for my tag trailer. I can seem to understand how to get this thing leveled correctly per the instructions. They have this set bolt that you are suppose to use washers to set the spacing but the bolt is too thick for the washers. Also it mentions that the hitch ball should be pointed away from the vehicle when unloaded but when you set the set bolt it pulls the ball in towards the vehicle. I am really confused and the directions a vague. Anyone familiar with this? for reference the manufacture is Curt Incorporated.

thanks all!!

Ken: May not help, because I believe mine is an Easylift, But the stinger is a 2" square bar welded tee that can be inverted in the receiver depending on truck and trailer hitch height. The vertical bar has several holes in it to set the height of the equalizer head. The head has a U-shaped saddle that has 2 holes in it to locate it on the vertical bar. There is a flat headed pin that will take a stack of furnished washers that goes in a hole in the back of the U-shaped saddle that controls the angle of the head relative to the stinger. It has to be above the top bolt. If you have to invert the bar so that the Tee sticks up, there may not be a hole for the pin.

Look for a flat head pin that appears to have no purpose. If you have one, try different numbers of washers until the head sets at the right angle, then pull the bars up tight or go ahead and pop them over, and tighten the 2 big transverse bolts hard.

If this doesn't look anything like your hitch, and the dealer or manufacturer are no help, you might try looking around RV parks for a hitch like yours. My experience is that almost all RV'rs are friendly and very helpful. Tom

I think you nailed it. Everything you explained about yours seems to be the same on this hitch. I'll mess with it in the morning and report back. Sure appreciate it.

thanks,

Ken
