Ok guys, I need some help here. Their is another website that is claming that the duramax can make 500rwhp and 1000ft tq. from just a box. It still has stock turbo, stock injectors, stock everything except the box. I have agured with these people that it is not possible. Am I in the wrong or are these guys crazy? Here is a few quotes from what they have told me.

i went to one of the first posts in this GM duramax forum. too lazy to search right now. this guy made 480/1030 at teh rear wheels with ONE DAMN BOX. i dont know how much to tell you guys, but i gues s you guys are stuck in the 80s. these new diesels can make an incredible amount of power.

our 03 duramax made 405/850 with honestly nothing but the programer. stack another box for pressure (the edge juice box is a timing box) and you have 500/1050+

here is another fella that has a website with teh pics of his mods. another 500+ rwhp stock turbo stock injector truck... . ok this is getting old. if you doubt this junk, oh well. how about we bet on it? lol

Customer of mine is putting down more than 440HP (but less than 460) with a K&N homemade air filter, straight exhaust, and two "Chips''. Stock everything,, even the clutch.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the DMX engine can make some good power...

Take a look here.

Look at the open class #2 only competition. There is a DMX with just over 550 HP!

oh, and that is with stock injectors and turbo... . some transmission tweaks, and ONE BOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those pesky Dmax's are gaining a lot of ground. Did anyone watch the Outdoor channel earlier this week. They had a final's sled pull in Indiana from last year, and Ford and Dmax ruled the day. We will see how the Dmax does in the long run with that much power. I don't think they will hold up as well as the Cummins.

dieselfreak,

Yea I saw that too about the 550hp truck with stock turbo and stock injectors. I really can't believe that myself. I am with horsepuller, If they do have that much power, we will see how much longterm reliability they have. The timing has to be outrageous.

Yes they are getting big power because the aluminum heads ended up being a real bonus. They suck the heat out to help control egts.

Also it's a higher revving, higher cubic inch engine.

The turbo is water cooled and is a really good match for the engine.

BUUUUUT..... it's the BIC lighter of diesels.

I say this because it has not proven to be as reliable as the Cummins. Unless you have bucks, you don't want to keep a Dmax past warranty.

I hope I dont get burned at the stake for this but Ive been hanging out at www.thedieselplace.com for a few months now (Vortecfcar). Those DMaxs are impressive any way you slice it. I would have bought one if I could've afforded it... . oops. A couple of boxes and a trans upgrade seems to be all the expensive parts you need to make rediculous horsepower. Well I guess I tooted the chevy guys horn long enough (wait I am one at heart)... one of these days Ill be able to tell people I own a dodge, but until then I just call it a Cummins powered 4x4.

I own both Cummins and now a DMax due to needing a medium duty. I will run it about 140K a year up and down the Alaska Highway towing heavy. I will test the durability for sure. It is a very different engine, too quiet, but seems to tow well. I still like my Cummins though.

you guys are just gonna have to get used to the fact that the Dmax is easier to BOMB then the Cummins... . sorry fellas, just the way it is now.

Got Juice? is a straight forward guy... many, MANY people watched his dyno runs and there is no need for him to lie about his numbers.

His transmission has the absolute best tweak done to it... a fella by the name of Bill K installed a bunch of parts in it... first DTT alli built, and not a hickup yet. Just wait till the transmission is completely finished and wait till GJ gets a good turbo from Piers, or maybe a couple good turbos... sorry fellas, we don't stand a chance.

It was basically a Cummins get together. GJ is however a very well liked and respected guy on the NWBombers site, and therefore he too showed up. There are a few guys out there that are still brand loyal, but like to see the good competition (I am one of them). I wouldn't hesitate to buy a DMax for a daily driver, but I wouldn't ever sell my Cummins (just turn it into even more of a toy).

Bash all you want guys, but don't be surprised when the gray dmax smokes you on the dyno, the track, or the sledpull... .

POSTED FOR GOT JUICE?:

Greetings Esteemed Members of the TDR,

Yes a DMX can make over 500RWHP on stock turbo and injectors. I was considering joining the TDR for info but there is no GM section for tech or help. Anyways, Thanks for the good wishes Eh?

Yours Truly

Got Juice?

PS Juicegrips were not used on the 550. 5 run.

think of what we will do when a bigger tubo becomes available... i was only 17 RWHP away from some twinned dodges!

All I can say is I have been in the truck in question and watched it run on the dyno and helped work on it also. This truck does make the power stated above and with one box. It is a scary ride but he still cant keep up with the Rocket :D Johnathon has more trouble getting the guys on the Chevy sites to believe his numbers than here :-laf

His truck

Dmx

Got Juice is a great guy and as stated above. I've riden in that truck in his truck it's VERY FAST. I've seen that truck on a dyno do more than 550. On the D-Max site they were trying to say that he was FOS when they should learn from what he was able to squeeze out of that truck.

Bic Lighter Hoot?

What does that statement have to do with making power? Everyone out there unlike you ,Commuter boy big horn blower, is pushing these engines and should expect wear and tear on the complete drivetrain.

All of your DIESELS are Bic lighters as you trade in three years nonetheless never enjoying the "real life" and "return value" of purchasing a diesel. You've said it yourself.

No I'm not in denial there has been a GM issue of injectors failing and non responsibility of taking responsibility of the problem ,**** poor really.

But comments from you Bandwagon jumper ,to the likes of the quote are comical to say the least and can't just slide under the radar.

Hang on there Dodge boys as Ole Hootie may be a Blue Oval owner ,Dodge traitor, in a couple years !!!

Mac

PS I'm in the very near 500+ RWHP club with a SINGLE program with at least ONE bad injector!!
