Do all common rail CTD make "spark knock" sound?

Do all CTD make a rattle or knock similar to "spark knock" in a gas motor when they are cold and hard accelleration when warm? Or could it be a valve adjustment needed? My truck sure does rattle something awful when its cold.

Mine too bro, I would say this truck makes more weird creaks, knocks, ticks, taps & rattles. I dont know if its because the new motors are quieter you hear more of the annoying things or what. I can honestly say I miss the extremely loud rattle of my 02' Oh well my 05' would spank my 02' like a rented mule!!!!!

Yep, mine does it too! (although it does it a bit less now that I have removed the Rokktech crank sensor and replaced it with the stock crank sensor).

Mine sounds like a washing machine full of marbles when cold.

I'm running a fuel additive, which did reduce the "knocking" you describe in the mid-RPM range (1500-1900) when warm.

Yep. . Same problem here!! Even more noticable when PMCR TE is turned up. With TE set to 1 no pinging/clatter during acceleration.

Could it be the winter blend fuel??? or the drop in fuel pressure caused by the PMCR???

Finished install of FASS 150gph system yesterday and now have 21psi of fuel pressure at idle and steady cruse. I'll play with it a little more and see how it does with more fuel pressure.
