Does anyone know that the poor Diesel Particulate Filter can cause Engine damage? CARB says the main reason for the Engine malfunction and damage is due the poor Diesel Particulate Filter. The frequent use of Diesel Particulate Filter built up excessive heat and backpressure in the engine and further damages the Engine.

I have never seen that happen, and I have dealt with way too many restricted dpfs
all the way to some that were too restricted to idle

I would tend to agree with this. If it were true, wouldn't an exhaust brake be just as damaging??

Hearing that from you Bob, as you work on a lot of these trucks, makes me real happy that My 2007 was built in the last week of December 2006, with a 5.9 and NO DPF! I'm sure you are glad you have your 2005 too. I had to smog my truck last week and the tech that I have known a long time told me that a replacement DPF for a Ford diesel that they worked on was over $7000.
