I realize this may be a dumb question... . but, when I bought the truck i had low power and could not get RPM's above 2300. I have replaced the overflow valve and I see alot more of the RPM's than before. The question is, if I had a stock set of springs, and floored the throttle, should I hear the truck gaining RPM's all the way to 3000 rpm's? Thats what it's doing. IF the previous owner added the 3000 GSK springs, what will I see and feel when I floor the throttle?

(the previous owner put 100,000 miles in two years on the truck... . Hotshot maybe?)

Thanks,

Tom

The previous owner could have just cranked in the stock springs... .

Look on the side of your pump..... if it's virgin... . there will be nifty little tamper evident wires covering up all the fun parts of the pump.

I don't know anyone who has modified a pump and then gone through the trouble of putting the OEM tamper wires back in place.....

Stock springs...

96 and up 5sp should pull 3000 pretty easy totally stock. Even without a totally stock pump (no plate change). If you had 3GSK they would most likely allow the motor to pull past 3500 (mine did). And 4GSK will not stop at 4K.

If your idle is fine, and after reving the motor say over 2K and quickly letting off it returns to idle with out any bounce (idle goes slightly lower then returns to the preset)... . Your govenor springs are most likely un touched.

Pop the AFC off. Check out the plate. Stock plate has long number. Aftermarkets typically have large single or double digit number. If the plate is done, then GSK might have.

I do GSK's through the top. See if those screws have been "tampered" with. If not, call TST today and order plate and GSK!:D

My 95 went to 3400 -punched it in Low Range- with the 3K GSK. Before kit it wouldn't go past 2700 or so and didn't like to exceed 2500--but that's a 160hp pump. Your pump should go past 3000 easily with 3K kit.

:) Thanks guys,

Mine is stock. I can't even imagine going up to 3400! Wow, that would be great... You know, I wish I had a friend that could help me with these mod's. I can do ANYTHING electrical, but mechanically I'm challenged... .

Anyway, thanks guys for your awesome help.

Where you AT? Fill in your profile thingy.

I'm sure there might be some folks nearby who'll trade mechanical genius for electrical genius. ;)

I've got a lot of wires to run and am still on a 100amp fuse panel.

My stock 97 would go to 2900 but was starting to defuel at 2600 or so. now with a little work it does a little more.
