Do I have the correct Owner's manual and maintenance logbook for an 04.5?

I took delivery of my 2004. 5 Cummins 600 the end of January 2004. It was built during the 1st week of the 04. 5 production. The owner's manual and maintenance logbook both refer to Tier 1 EPA (250 hp or 305 hp) and California LEV (235 hp) engines only. They make no reference to the 325 hp Cummins 600.



Do any of you members with later 600's have manuals that reference the 325 hp engine? If so, I need to see where I can get them.



Interesting side note: On the page for 22,500 mile schedule "B" service, the background image shows 3 spark plugs. I thought our engines had 6 cylinders. :-laf

I was going to buy a manual for my 4. 5/600 from Geno's but was told that they havent been released yet. They dont know when they will be available

When I picked up my truck from the dealer last April, he sat down with me and went over all of the maintenance documents. He stated that the HO 600 uses the same schedule as the Tier 1 EPA engines and most people fall into the B schedule for maintenance.

My truck was built on 3/26/04. The back cover on the owners manual says, "Second Edition". There's also a (part?) # 81-326-0428. I hope this helps. BTW schedule B oil change starting on page 388 shows oil & filter at 7500 miles. Schedule A shows 15,000 or 12 months.

Thanks for the responses. My owner's manual has the same part number, but is a First Edition. I'll check with my dealer and see if they can get me the 2nd edition.



Rick: Does your manual reference the 325 HP engine?

klenger, Where would I look for the 325/600 reference? On your first post you mentioned a spark plug image, is that on the maintenance chart? There are no images on my maintenance chart.

Sorry it took me a bit to get back. I got a new laptop and am staying up till 2:00 am to play with it.



In my 1st edition owner's manual on page 384 just before the Schedule B tables, is a section on "Engine Oil change Chart Notes", and it calls out the 250 or 305 hp engines with a diamond symbol and the 235 (CA) with a cross symbol. There is no mention of the 325 hp Cummins 600. I'm pretty sure that I need the 2nd edition manual.



The spark plug image is on the 22,500 mile Schedule B page in the maintenance logbook (1st edition 2nd run).

No reference to any engine HP or torque that I can find. You need to get the second edition.
