Why would you waste money on a Comp if you don't tap the wire? Solder the tap and enjoy. If your pump goes it was weak anyway.

You don't have to as the other's said, but it is a HUGE difference. Mine has been tapped for over 60k miles now. I would go with something else if you arent going to tap the wire.

i know what your saying and i had the wire tapped for 2 years but after 2 vp44s and my auto is almost gone i just wanted to know if i could use the comp till i get the trans redone. i know they run great. i used to smoke my friends 2001 7. 3 all the time. poor ford guys

I would say with your situation to just leave it untapped until you get the trans taken care of. I dont know what your VP situation is but if you've changed both of those out in short time by having them tapped I would get a good pump from Industrial Injection. I personally have been running one of theirs for 212,000 miles and I have thrown several different wire tap chips at it and never skipped a beat. Included is an Edge Hot Comp, Redline, Quadzilla Zillaraider, and a TST PM3. I have literally thrashed on this pump and it still runs like new. Ive also installed several VP's in customers trucks that are also run hard and Ive never had a complaint about them. Industrial Injection builds the best reman pumps available if you ask me.

As for your trans... get a Dave Goerend transmission if you want to be able to use the Edge Comp any time you want with no worries.

the problem with my vp44s is the lift pump but i hope to take care of that with the trans when uncle sam decides its a good idea to give me my tax return. as for the comp yesterday i hooked the map sensor and it threw the check engine light. i unhooked it and then it stayed on for about three starts then went out. do i need to hook the ground wire with out tapping the pump?

thanks. i tried it earlier and this time no light. but the converter still shakes the whole dang truck in lockup. oh well just have to keep a light foot for a few more weeks
