I could be wrong, but from past similar posts, I believe the Van Aaken does not have a built in boost module. If that is the case, then you should get a boost module to go along with the VA. What a boost module does, is fool the ECM into not seeing higher than "acceptable" levels of boost.

Meaning, the ECM is set to defuel your engine if it sees more than around 20 #'s of boost. With a fueling bos, such as the VA, you can easily get the turbo to produce more than 20 #'s of boost, but you don't want the ECM telling the injector pump to defuel the engine, and a boost module basically clips the boost signal so the ECM never knows you are actually producing more than the 20 #'s it think is the limit you need.

The boost module isn't going to do you any good if your wastegate is still opening up at 20psi. You'll have to also install the brass boost restrictor on your turbo so the wastegate doesn't dump your boost at 20psi. Once you do all that it will be a different truck.

With just a VA, there really is no "need" to run a boost module. A boost module will lower your EGT's, but along with a boost module you'll need a boost elbow to "defeat" the wastegate.

When you turn up the boost its a two part process. First you need to address the electronic aspect, which is what a boost module does as explained above. Secondly, you have to address the physical aspect of the wastegate. Even tho you have enough fuel, and the electronic aspect handled you are still physcally dumping any boost greater then 20psi through the wastegate.

Are your EGT's a problem now? (shouldn't be), 20psi is enough boost to maintain your current level of power, so until you add injectors or another box I see no reason for you to need a boost module? You could add a PS Boost module for your own peace of mind tho. I wouldn't go over 25psi tho, there is a such thing as "too much air" and not enough fuel.

Edit :Looks like Mike replied while i was typing :D

Putting the boost module on with the VA will allow it to continue pulling hard over 2300RPM or so. It seems to defuel without it, but put a boost module on and it will pull hard all the way to the redline. It is well worth the money and EGT's will get a little lower too.

boost module

I just installed a va in my truck, and have a boost module on order. Wow, what a difference. does anybody know if boost module from bd comes with the elbow?
