My alternator seems like it really struggles getting up above 10 volts every time I crank it. I run electric fans on a 30 amp relay, and also have a 1000 watt amp(only use 500 watts though) for my sub. Do I need a bigger alternator? I am using a new Advance Auto alternator right now, I have heard these alternators and Napa's kinda suck and the AC Delco is a better unit. What do yall think I should do?

My brother-in-law went through 3 or 4 Advance Auto alternators in a matter of a few months... . My opinion after that is that I would never buy and parts for my Dodge CTD from that company... . I have never heard anything about NAPA's alternators but this is just my $. 02 worth. Good luck to ya!!!

They will be able to set you up with a higer amp alt. and wiring. They have alt. that put out more amps during low rpm's.

I have never used them, but seen quite a few in Jeeps running extra lights and winches.

When looking at alternators pay attention to how they're rated. Hot rated and cold rated are two different animals.
