Boat winch

5,000# hitch bar for 10,000# receiver?

I purchased a fifth wheel hitch from Etrailer.com, also known as Bropfs Supply Center in St. Charles,Mo. My 2004. 5 2500 Quad had 325 miles on it when I dropped it off to have the hitch installed. Well, guess what, they drilled a hole into my brand new gas tank. After my friendly Dodge dealer (Zeiser in St. Peters,Mo) installed my new gas tank, I went over to Bropfs to pay for the remainder of my bill. They started to charge me the full amount when I expresed my feeling, that after all they put me through, I should be compensated monitarily. Graig the manager/owner told me that they discounted the labor charge. That was an outright lie since I had paid them about two weeks earlier. The charge then was 5 hours labor and that did not change. He gave me a wopping $49 off. Did not provide me with a loaner vehicle. When I asked him to explain how to use the slider hitch, he did not know. They did not bother to clean out my truck bed. It was full of metal shavings from the drilling. Three days later both rubber bumpers on the hitch fell completely off. Needless to say, I would not have any dealings with these people. Accidents do happen, but I surley think they should have gone out of their way to make me happy.

Did you let them know you were going to post your poor experience on the web for all to see? Lot's of businesses don't care what you think after they have your money, but they care about what 500 other potential customers may think after you tell your story. You can file with the better business bureau as well.

Yes, I had told them that several people on the internet are waiting to see how I was treated, but it did not matter to him. He had a personality of a frog. I didn't think the BBB would care as I am not sure that they are obligated to me other than replacing my tank, which they did.

You might want to remind the owner of that old saying that goes something like "happy customers tell 5 people of their experience; and unhappy customers tell 15".

Well, I hope to tell more than 15. I forgot to mention that I also wanted a 7 pin connector installed in the bed. They told me that they can not do that because there was not enough room between the walls of the bed. I just finished installing the connector myself a few minutes ago. It was very easy to install with lots of room to spare.

Just in case someone wants to email Etrailer.com, their address is -- email address removed --

Yeehaw, I wrote a note (same as above) to the link you provided, but after writing it, I saw no button for submitting the note. When going to the note page, I did not see it. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong.

I posted a second note about the connector with the same results.

Click on CONTACT to submit, so much for Quality Assurance... ...

I'll pass the word along, as I know quite a few people in vastly different circles. Word will get around. It's a real shame that something like this is becoming the norm more and more, rather than a gross exception to the rule. So much for customer service, I guess. And the sad thing is, there isnt much you can do about it. Turning it in to the BBB is akin to calling the cops when someone is prowling around your house but hasnt done anything yet. If you tell all your friends and neighbors, they either wont believe you (a shop wouldnt be THAT careless or unconcerned) or if you tell the wrong person (with some pull), you can get sued for SLANDER. Welcome to MO, the rude capital of the world

On the flip side, the tractor/ farm equip dealership I worked at till this week steam/ pressure washed EVERYTHING that went out of the shop after we worked on it. Just a little something extra for the customers.

I had problems with etrailer.com also when they sent me imcompatible parts for the reese class iv hitch. They just didn't know which pullbar belonged to which ball mount even though I asked this in an email and got an answer. It took several emails and phone calls to get a return authorization. No more business with them. I vote with my wallet!

This is a corrected message.

I also just posted the following:

I was going to have a 5th wheel hitch installed here... but after the way they treated my friend, Bernie over in

St. Charles,Mo; well, I am taking my business elsewhere. Drill a hole in a gas tank, refuse to install the trailer connector, leave drill shavings everywhere and the install starts coming apart?

Don't think so,

John Craig

Likewise, the only button to push was "Contact". sounds like File 13 if you ask me.
