Do the 1st gens have the Anti-Siphon ball in the fuel fill tube? My truck fills to 10-12 gallons and then fuel spills out the top. I have to sit and let it drain down (slowly) before filling the rest of the tank repeating the process over and over.

I don't know if I have one or not, but I can fill at full throttle until that last 2 gallons or so... then I have to slow it down.

How far in the filling tube is it? I am going to take it out and want to know where to start looking.

Thanks for all the replies. :-laf

It is located at the bottom of the fill tube that hooks to the bed. There is a rubber joint at the end of the fill tube. Unhook the hose and remove the filler neck from the bed. Then dig out your favorite craftsmen pry bar that imitates a crewdriver and pop the ball out.

You guys have enough $$ to fill the tank ALL THE WAY UP!!!???

Scott,

I hate to break this to you..... but some of us actually DRIVE our trucks all year long. OK. Sit down. I shouldn't have said it that suddenly. :-laf

I meant to tell you this sooner, but it was still winter and the "Silver Rocket" was still in your garage. ;)

Yeah, thats the kinda the way I feel every time I pull up to the pump.

Reading the thread about the larger fuel tank makes me wonder what the price of #2 is there.

The 30 gallons I gotta foot the bill for periodically makes me cringe. :( Anything larger would make me cry. :{

I always use plastic...

and the wife actually pays the bills (all on line) so I never actually get the sticker shock... . ;)

She's just happy I still don't have the F blank that got 15 mpg :-laf

I had a roomie in college who only put in 2-3 dollars worth in every couple of days. His gauge was always riding on E. I never understood it. But it was good for a laugh.

My wife and I work it the exact same way J. I am so bad, I rarely know how much I'm paying a gallon  . I just go to the same station I always go to and fill up! :-laf

Travis. .

My 92 has the ball in the filler hose and I can fill up fast except for the last couple of gallons. With the high price of fuel, I would rather spend a little extra time filling up than have some low life siphoning the tank.

I finally got around to checking it out... mine has a green ball in it. It was filled half way with diesel fuel. I chucked that baby out of there. Next on my to do list is change the fuel tank sender unit!!

Thanks again everyone!!
