BC, I have to disagree. The best description I've ever heard of a PSD is that it sounds like one of those tow-behind concrete mixers running full of roofing nails... perfect description!

You all keep listening to these things as you DRIVE them... Whatcha gotta hear is when you're at a distance. When a customer with dual open stacks dropped the hammer, the roar carried a long distance, resounding long after he was out of site. It sounded almost like the bigger Cummins except that it wound up a little higher.

I like the sound of even my little gasser slant six. With a nearly straight pipe exiting just a little behind the driver's door and a 4 barrell with open air filter and big cam, it makes a really nice sound when working hard at 2500. No, you won't mistake it for Cummins, but it makes one sweet sounding, defiant growl when it's pulling hard.
