The older I get, the more amazed I am at otherwise intelligent adults who absolutely never admit being wrong about anything.
I work with a whole load of very smart people who constantly argue with each other about various work-related topics. I rarely ever hear one of them admit he was wrong.
I don't understand this kind of behavior. There's one guy whose entire self-opinion seems to hinge on being absolutely correct on every single thing in the entire universe. I mean God-like wisdom. If he told you 2+2=4. 8 and you proved him wrong, he would come up with an explanation why, although "technically" your answer is right, his answer is still the better one.
This happens at all levels - from simple petty arguments among friends to huge world-altering disputes between world powers!
What is so horrible about being wrong?
