Yeah, read about it a bit. Sounds pretty good. I would probably get a . 50 just to have one, but since i live in queerafornia, looks like the . 416 is my only option. Is it available in the semiauto gun yet. When it is, I think i am going to adopt one. Oo.

Yes, I have seen it on Futureweapons on the Discovery channel. It is quite impressive. I think I'll take one of each once I win the lottery.

I'd opt for the 50 if I was able to afford a rifle like that.

The 50 is more an "available" round, and has more options.

Throw in some of the RAUFOSS rounds... . hey what the heck, if you can afford the rifle you got to properly feed it.

they'll make the $$$ I'm thinking... . kind'a like the printers - give em a printer - we'll make it up on cartridges... ... . even though 3-5000 is a lot of cash - for the agencies who'll buy them - it's peanuts -

Find out what kind of bullet it shoots, how much it weighs and the bullet co-efficient and we can find out exactly how much it has at the muzzle. Would need a Chronograph out at a 1000 yds to find its speed to calculate the energy. Would be interesting to find out.

Barrett claims it can propel a 400gr solid brass boattail spitzer bullet out of the 29 inch barrel at 3250fps (using a proprietary propellant -- but at what elevation and temperature?), giving it a ballistic coefficient of . 943-. 989 (the article contains both numbers), and keeping it supersonic out to 2500 yards (1. 4 miles). The claimed energy at 1K yards is actually higher than the . 50 BMG (though it drops below the . 50 beyond that).

I was poking around the other night and found a site where the guys were talking about how to get around the . 50BMG ban in Commifornia. Lots of ideas, . 49's, . 51's, shortened or lengthened cases, different shoulder angles. They thought they'd call whatever they came up with the . 50 Feinstein. :-laf



I wonder how many . 50BMG's have been used in crimes? I'm thinking, oh about ZERO!

Like most of theses stupid laws, they made some stuff up that made no sense but preyed on the general publics fears. No basis what so ever for that law.

Going to . 51 would make it a DD and would require the paperwork.

If it were a "loose tolerance" . 49... . it would be ideal. :-laf

Are you still allowed to get a . 50AE or . 500 Linbaugh etc. in CA? Or was that in San Fransicko that they decided that all . 50's, included black powder, are evil and banned them? I scares the stuffing out of me that more and more people don't seem to get it or care that without the 2nd, the 1st and the rest have no teeth. The whole system is upside down. When you get caught using a gun in a crime, all bets should be off. Right now, the bad guys are in and out of jail so fast you never knew they were there. #@$%!
