Who's rode with DTT???

Poll - Color of your truck

My neighbor and friend came over the other day and wanted to know if I could haul a lawn aerator for him. His truck (a Chevy) was out of commission. I didn’t have time, so I loaned him my truck. Here’s the question. Do you let anybody drive your truck?

Not many

Just a select few get to drive my truck. Let my brotherinlaw pull his camper with it and he fell in love with the truck (he normaly pulls his camper with a 350 powered suburban) Now he wants to drive it all the time. :p I'm trying to get him to convert the burb over to Cummins power. Forgot to mention he's also my diesel mechanic. :) Tried to get my mom to drive it but she's scared he might put a scratch or something on it. Tought my buddy's little sister to drive a stick in it too after everyone else failed at teaching her. :) Got a nice reward for that one, if you know what I mean;) :D Oo.

Only guys who own Flowerpokes, love to see them cry:{ :D

The boss drives it... ... . but I don't think that's a choice;) ;) -

Of course

Mine is the company truck, so everyone drives it. At least that way I don't have to take responsibility for all the dents. 2 years old on Saturday, and will hit 82,000 miles. Not bad for someone who works in the shop 50 hrs. per week. If I go to bigger injectors, I have the option of unhooking the VA for select employees who may have heavy foot, and are light on common sense.

I still love the truck, and employees who have driven it have bought their own, and/or dream of buying their own.

My wife and my Dad, until the other day. I had an emergency, so and my brother drove it. He is an owner operator (double bunk Peterbilt, and 40" Ravens dump trailer) so he can handle it.

He loves it!!:D

No-one drives my steed. I don't trust anyone, especially with a pm3 and injectors. Too easy to slip the clutch. I can see it now, they call and say for some reason there is a lot of smoke coming from under the truck.

In a year and half only my wife has driven it. And only once. Her vehicle was not up to the task of the trip she took. First words out of her mouth even before hello when she got back was now I understand why you like that truck so much. She liked it so much I had to go out and buy her a new vehicle. Unfortunately she didn't want a vehicle that big she went with a Toyota Forerunner. She can drive it anytime she wants though.

My dad is the only one that has driven it, and thats only because I left it at his house one night and drove home with my wife, he brought it home to me the next day to surprise me (he just wanted to drive it).....

My wife has never driven it... and basically noone will drive it unless they go through my little drive the diesel orientation (which when told that they ususally tell me to forget it) which'll learn 'em on how to start the truck properly, watch the oil pressure, let it warm up, don't shut it down immediately (gotta let it cool down) blah, blah, blah,,,,,most people tell me its not worth the trouble... ..... what do they know???/:D

I taught my son(now 18) to drive in my 2001 dually 5 speed. He occasionally borrows it for a date or an errand. Eric McBride and I have driven each other's trucks, when the necessity arose, on trips or for troubleshooting purposes. Other than that, I 'm not so free & easy about letting anyone drive my truck. Neither is he. Both of my uncles demonstrated an appalling lack of knowledge in how to drive it right, so now, only my kid gets to drive it.

Most people who know me wouldn't even ask to drive my truck. I have much the same schpeel as KPhillips. I tell them to pay attention because a test will follow. On reccommendation from a friend, I put together a questionaire that I pull from the glove box asking about basic diesel knowledge. :D After presenting it to one guy I work with, he just walked away muttering something to the effect of "What an anal SOB - it's only a truck" - considering he drives an 82 Toyota POS, and I have my BOMBed DC, I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome of that one :D

On the other hand, my wife will not drive my truck, and she knows how - she just sees me having too much fun with it. She did tell me that when I get my first speeding ticket she gets my truck... :(:{ Guess I gotta watch out for that one, although earning it back could prove fun :D:D:D.

Mine is simply a truck. I let people drive it if they want or need to. I just tell them not to hammer it in OD as the TCC will slip if they do. I tell them that if they do they will likely blow the transmission, that scares them enough. In 1st-3rd gears let her eat!! It is a truck and they make new ones every day, MHO.

EDIT: if I know someone is just wanting to hammer on it or will not treat it halfway decent then no they can't drive. Responsible adults can drive it I guess I should say.

I've had my CTD for around 9 months, and when I first got it the girlfriend didn't even THINK of asking for the Keys! :-laf

My dad drove it a couple of months after I got it because his Toyota Tacoma wouldn't hall some stuff back from the other side of Nashville that he needed. Well that and because his name is on the title too!:p

About 3 weeks ago the girlfriend got soaked one day at school, and had rode with me that day so guess what? She had to take it home to change (not even 2 miles from school). I was hesitant to let her because she's knows that is my first "NICE" truck. I had a POS 93 Toyota Pickup from when I turned 16 up to Aug. of last year (I'm about to turn 19). But she did fine because she's is a curious bugger and already knew to start off in 2nd gear, and she knew about the wait to start light. Then she had to take it again for some homework she forgot one day, but she doesn't drive it on a regular basis. Just in "have too!" situations.

My girlfriends dad drives it on rare occasion (like today was a nice day and we stole his Wrangler!:-laf), or when I'm the last vehicle in the driveway and he has to go get something. But he's been a family friend for years, and he doesn't hesitate to hand me his keys if I need them.

Mom... ... can't drive a stick!:D :D :D

My wife drove Baby Huey once with me as a passenger. She vowed to never drive it again and that's okay with me, the mini van is more her style. The only people that I trust with my truck, when I'm not around, are the folks at A. W. D.

Only the girlfriend drives it(been with her for a year and 9 months now), or if I had too many to drink, i will reluctlenty hand over the keys.

Floor It has drove mine... ... while I stood on the side of the road and listened by his house..... never heard my truck from the outside before.

Lawrence at DD of course drove it ;)

Fred Swanson got to drive it (he let me drive his) at May Madness.

Other then that thats it.

My girlfriend wants to drive it, and I'll let her eventually... once I get it "perfect".
