'77 Mercedes upgrades?

When we got our last rebuilt injection pump in to work I found this flyer in with it. Granted it is put out by Stanadyne, but I have been questioning the lubrication of the new ULSD for a while now, and really began to question it when the rebuilder picked up our last set of nozzles an dsaid they had been rebuiling a lot of pumps due to lack of lubrication.

No, I've always run something.

When I first got the truck I ran PS or Howes.

Now I use BioDiesel about B20.

When I am away I use 2 stroke oil

I'm running commercial B10 plus Stanadyne Performance Formula. I think (but don't know for sure) the diesel I get is ULSD.

Really the SPF is overkill with the B10 (B2 is enough to replace the lubricity lost to the sulfur removal process), but it helps me to sleep at night.

I think an additive except to prevent jelling,, (and then truckstops in the winter take care of blend in most cases) is a waste of time.

A big truck will burn over 100gal(1) per day easy. Do you think these drivers are adding that stuff to the tanks? (1/2 in one tank run around and put the other half in the other tank!!!) no way hose:-laf

(1) 200 gal if team driving

There prolly not running a vp44, owner operators, mechanics... ;)

There are 2 sides to every coin. In my experiance, when I went to diesel classes in college, running an additive is not a bad thing. A Driver may not see what is done. When I worked fleet maintenance we, in the shop, added additives now and then. Mostly to make sure there was no water in the fuel from a tank other than our own, as if our own water in the fuel was good. So even if you don't see it every tank doesn't mean it is not used.
