I ordered 2 Wilson 1000 antenas for my trucks and hoped to get them before it turned to winter here. It's been 2 weeks that FedEx has had the package and I still don't have them. Check this out. (tracking link)

I guess it was lost in Memphis, but then they found it and put it back into the same shipping mode. SLOW It's been at a sort facility less than an hour south of here for over 2 days.

I had a similar problem with Fed Ex this fall. I traded exhaust housings with MDW (he needed the 18 and 21 for a twins project, I wanted his 12 for a free upgrade), coulnt send him mine till I got his and put it on. Took two weeks to get it to me. UPS got his pkg there in 3 or 4 days. glad to see I'm not the only victim of Package Loss by FedEx.

My company is one of Fedex's top ten customers world wide, we spend a ridiculous amount of $$ with them. Overall the experience is good but just like anything the make mistakes too. Prior to working for Trader Publishing I worked for a company in Fort Collins that used UPS, same scenario. An occasional snafu but overall ok. I think they all do pretty good considering its still ran by human power.

That would REALLY suck if you were without your truck and waiting for a part. I swapped grilles with another member recently and it went very smoothly.

This package has been in FedEx hands for 14 days now. Last tracking scan was less than an hour south of me 2 days ago at 6 AM. I sent them a note saying that they send stuff overnite all the time and if they screw up on some other package, they have the means to make the latter part of the trip much faster. (upgrade the priority) First it was lost in Memphis, then they found it after a few days. Now it's taking its time getting the rest of the way here.

FedEx: When it absolutely positively has to be there sometime this month. :-laf

I've used F/E for the last 9 years and only had delays a time or two. They're pricey compared to the PO, but much better service from my experiences.

If you package isn't on time, even within an hour (morning delivery and it shows up in the early afternoon), you can gripe to them and they will reimburse you for the delay. Several days is a total crock and I would think a total reimbursement is in order.

I've had nothing but great success with FedEx and wish more venders would use them. Just the other day I had the FedEx truck deliver a new printer to my house. The girl was very concerned that it may have been damaged and asked if we could open it on the spot. I said that she could go right ahead. As I suspected, the rounded corner on the shipping container only went into foam and there was no damage at all. She still insisted on writing it up as being damaged upon delivery just in case I had a problem later on. I said to her that she obviously has never seen a UPS package delivered. :D

Now that I am on a UPS roll, I have a friend that use to use UPS to ship all of his ebay orders. One package arrived at his customer's office completely demolished. When he went to put in a claim at UPS they told him that it was improperly packed. He told them that he had paid UPS to pack it and showed them his receipt. They said, "see, I told you it was improperly packed!" He's used FedEx from that day on. ;)

I ship a lot of stuff FEDEX at work, even internationally.

Never had any issues other than a few customs delays.

But I feel your frustration.

I use both FedEx and UPS on a daily basis. Both have regular pickup and deliveries at my shop. Overall, I have better service from FedEx. When I am expecting something to be delivered overnight by FedEx, it ususally shows up by 9:00am. Not the case with UPS. I'm lucky if I get it by their regualar drop off time of 3:30pm. At least once a week I have to open and inspect a UPS package for damage as they come in pretty beat up. Never the case with FedEx. I guess it is different in different areas of the country.

Somehow they "lost" it again. They can't find it in Cadillac or in any of their local trucks. I'm starting to wonder if it has a camoflage wrapping or something. :D Seems odd to loose a package TWICE in its trip up here, but maybe there is a problem with the label or something. (or the package is open and they're trying to find all the parts :{ )

FEDEX is good, but in Alaska you have to be sure there is local service. For some places, fedx ships to a PO Box in Anchorage fro final delivery, but they don't tell you that. Makes a package completely untrackable, when you involve 2 carriers. This only applies to some of the more remote locations.

Re: package abuse

Complaining to Fedex, UPS or any shipper for that matter likely will fall on deaf ears. Better to complain to the shipper, they carry more weight than you do. It may be the shipper's fault anyway. Regardless of being a small package or motor freight, have the time, "stuff" is not packaged adequately. I thought the problem was worse with larger freight but while my trailer was being unloaded the other day, one of UPS's small trucks pulled up and unloaded a few dozen boxes. As the driver was unloading, I am looking at the condition of the boxes and chatting with him. He's saying the same thing, look at the way this stuff is packed!

You need to understand, the pressure to move this stuff is big time and it gets down to money. I don't know about small package companies but freight haulers get pennies on a dollar of revenue. Roadway Express for instance had been making maybe 3 cents per dollar.

Individual deliveries have to get handled a lot to make it to your door. The above and human error can make it or "break" it.

One other point. Using the internet to get the best price, especially on items that go motor freight may not end up to be the best deal in the end. Your 500lb object may be waiting on the back of a 53' van at the end of your 2000' driveway. Not the short little six wheeler with a lift gate you thought you paid for.
