I just couldn't resist. I emailed these guys tonight. I doubt if I hear back from them but that's not the point.
Here's my note:

Hi guys,
I heard about your site over on the Turbo Diesel Register web site.
Needless to say, your actions and attitudes have not been well received.
And frankly, your site hasn't changed my mind. Putting a bumper sticker
on my Dodge won't either.
Satisfy my curiousity here fellas. I think that most of us agree
that the climate is changing. The evidence of that is fairly conclusive.
Where we diverge is the "why" of the situation. Obviously, you guys
feel that man is to blame for the most part, while many (myself included)
feel that the earth, through volcanic activity and so on, is the root cause.
It's just happens. Surely even you must agree that the earth has
undergone large scale climatic changes in the past, even long before man
was walking upright. While I do not believe that we should wantonly
destroy our ecosystem, we should not disrupt our present way of life in
a vain attempt to prevent the inevitable. People will have none of
it, unless of course they believe that someone else will be paying for
it, which as most already know, is the left's forte'.
However, I am not writing to argue the causes of global warming.
My reason for writing is simple. I would like to get some idea what
makes you guys "tick. " I am curious. It is obvious from the
tone on your website that you consider the typical SUV owner to be rather
dimwitted. I believe you use the word, "mindless. " (You and
I both know that's not true, even if you won't admit it. ) While I'm
sure that the primary effect of this attitude is to make you feel good,
surely you realize that your opinion relieves you of the responsibility
of making even the most feeble attempt to educate. You admit that your
tactics are designed to "shame" SUV drivers. What happened here?
Isn't this a giant leap? Do you feel that any attempt to educate
SUV drivers is useless because of their limited mental capacity?
How convenient! C'mon now guys, you fairly gush at your own supposed
cleverness with the self-proclaimed "subtle" message expressed on your
bumper sticker. It's quite evident that you have a very low opinion
of SUV drivers. Jeez, guys wake up! What's so subtle about
your bumper sticker?
Perhaps you feel that you have already made an attempt to educate and
feel that attempt failed. Can't be your fault, now can it?
Must be your audience. Yeah, that's it. They're incredibly
stupid. Has to be!! It's not that our argument is weak.
No, not at all. The audience is just stupid!! Yeah right guys.
Since it's obvious to me anyway that you guys consider yourselves just
pretty **** brilliant, why don't you devote your energy into creating workable
alternatives to the gas guzzling SUV's that you love to hate? Think
of the impact that cold fusion would have on our world! Then all
could have the safety, passenger comfort and towing capacity that present
day SUV's offer. What you advocate now would have a far reaching
and adverse effect on the economy. I mean, let's be practical here,
many of the very people that you wish to protect make their living connected
in some way to SUV's. Go into direct competition with the evil big
3 and offer what you think that people actually want. Build a truck
that can pull my boat and camper and do it economically and I'll be your
first customer!
Now a more general interest question for you. The common perception
is that environmental extremists don't actually have jobs. I mean,
it seems that they're out there protesting, living in trees etc while the
rest of us dolts are working for a living. Now I've got to believe
that some of you guys actually have real, productive jobs and actually
have to bring home a paycheck and have financial obligations that can't
be passed on to Mommy and Daddy. What in your estimation, is the
percentage of environmental extremist types who actually work? 10%?
25%? I am really curious to know. Here's your chance
to enlighten the unenlightened!
So anyway, if you're still reading this, my advice is to quit skulking
around in dark parking lots committing vandalism and other immature acts.
If you really believe in your message, you'll own up to it out in the light
of day and argue your point like adults. To do otherwise is cowardice,
pure and simple.
Regards,
Tim Matthews
