I am a new member to TDR and I'm just getting use to this site. I have a 2500 Qcab. I'am looking to upgrade my engine and was told that I could have the Cummins in my truck turned up at a Cummins dealer and still not void my warranty. Is this a true fact?

The uprated ECM - manual trans only - may void your DC POWERTRAIN (everything behind the engine) warranty. The ENGINE warranty is not voided.

I wish...

I have heard of some shops turning up the pumps on the 12v's, but nothing to the 24v's. Tell us more about your truck. There is ALMOST nothing you can do to increase power and not void your warrenty.

Welcome!

kfranovich:

First welcome aboard. This about the coolest place to talk "trucks. "

Next, it's problably not a good idea to go to the dealer and ask them how you can BOMB your truck. There's plenty of us around here who can "suggest " different products as well as a wealth of technical experience.

Recommend you figure out what you want and how much you want to spend. I'd say you could get some gauges (EGT & boost) first. Next, baseline your truck. Get it dynoed and see what you're putting out stock. Next, you gotta look at what kind of transmission you got (auto/stick) cuz autos need serious work for any serious upgrades and sticks need upgraded clutches if your gonna put out over 300HP rear wheels.

You can look at my signature to see all the goodies I've added.

If you're interested, post your set-up and ask away.

Happy trails, Wiredawg

kfranovich--Wiredawg got you started in the right direction, but if you get guages--the two most important are the EGT & fuel pressure--the boost guage is #3---then prep your transmission and you're ready to do some stuff that will amaze ya----chris

You really need to tell us what year truck you have and what trans. if you have a 12 valve truck, get boost and pyro, if you have a 24 valver, i would agree with chris, get the pyro and fuel pressure at a minimum and boost if you have room. the transfer pumps on our 24 valve truck has "issues" that make it worth monitoring.

There is an ad in the TDR magazine (Nov,DEc,Jan) that Cummins put out about this. Although it is a Cummins aproved, like others said, might not be Chrysler approved.

i know, i know.... pick me.....!

I know what your talking about, it's called the Torques Maxes. All it is really is the H. O. ECM program. It is only for 98. 5+, that are NOT the H. O. 6-speed. It costs like $800 I think, for 10 horses, and brings in the engine brake 1 second earyler. Not worth is in my opion, but different strokes, for different folks. :p

LOOK IN THE TDR FOR THE ADD! Last time I saw the ad, it was on an all black page, and had that red 24v. THIS IS NOT YOUR LOCAL CUMMINS STORE!
