I saw on the news today that dodge is having problems with ball joints. Could it be that maybe thay are just to cheap to put zerts in them. And now thay find out that won't last. :rolleyes: :-{}

My wife told me about this also. She seen it on CNN and they were talking about the Durangos:(

Nothing I didn't know already:rolleyes:

This is not only Dodge but all of them. I just did a 99 f-350 at 37K,no zerks,same ball joints that are in my 2500 that went to 70k. And G. M... . I do s-10 ball joints at oil changes,5-6000 miles:rolleyes: ... Doug

BJ's

took truck in for alignment found out that the lower ball joints are bad. only 62k I thought that these were hd trucks:mad: :mad: . re Anyone else having a bad BJ day.

You are right about the Durangos and the Dakotas, they have the worst ball joints. We change them all of the time. The problem is that the vehicles owners and DC have conflicting views on how long the ball joints should last. The owners think 150,000 miles, DC thinks 36,000 miles, which for you guys that are on the ball (no pun intended) is just out of warranty. ;)

DC replaced ball joints (uppers and lowers on both sides) @ 50K miles 2001 truck. Probably would have replaced the joints sooner, but did not realize the problem until I tried to get an alignment after buying new tires.

I am currently doing some work for a supplier to DC. From the info I gathered around the plant, Dodge engineers have failed to get their act together as usual. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be much real engineering performed when the vehicle is designed. I guess they just spit out a cheap concept, head back to the golf course, and hope for the best.
