I was looking to buy a dodge but all I could find was an automatic that was in my price range. I am a bit weary to buy an automatic, because all of the dodge autos that I have been in haven't impressed me much once you hook on a trailer and throw a couple of horses in. I was just wondering if you turned the pump up on one if it would run like some of the standard that are out there. Just wondering how the compare, because around here nobody wants to get rid of there standard.

Thanks

Autos arent to bad until you go turning the pump up then you will have to do some work to it , but if you buy a standard and turn it up too much you will need a new clutch. I prefer a standard though.

I am still running the stock auto it still works good too

My last truck a 94 was a 5 spd i didnt like the idea of an auto but this was just too nice of a truck to pass up:cool:

Now I have put over 150,000 miles on my stock transmission pulling a 28 ft wilson stock trailer usually not loaded light either:--) :--)

Drive one its all in personal preference I have wanted to DTT or 5 spd it for a long time now but this transmission just wont die

hope this helps

I have the auto, and like it for more space in the cab, driving empty is much easier, Blah Blah Blah.

I have 76K miles on mine and pull 8K regularly with no problems. I am a conservative driver however.

IMHO the 5 speeds have their liabilities also, so it all comes down to personal choice.

I got my truck used with 58,000 on the odometer. The guy I bought it from towed a big 5th wleel TT. He also had put in a #6 plate. My stock automatic worked great until the TC clutch began to slip a little. I put off doing anything about it until 107,000 miles and then I got a great trans upgrade.
