Looking for info about the computer behind the left head light. What all does it control? What exactly is the difference between auto and stick computers? I believe I can use an auto computer with a stick?? but not the other way around. My buddy just bought a 93 W250 that currently has a AT in it. The computer is missing ( so no core for rebuilding ) and he eventually wants to convert it to a stick although it needs to be running sooner than that. Thanks in advance David

David I just did a 5 sp swap from Auto did not change out PCM and truck run's Beautiful so I would say you would be ok . the truck still has the auto pcm and nothing has had troubles .

Everthing I have read about the '93s PCM says you can use the auto equipted PCM on a manual trans truck but not the other way around.

Great Thanks Now all I need to do is find a good Auto PCM. Some people say to use a mini van computer. IF so which year? David

Gotta be a diesel if it's a later model, 91. 5 or so and later..... somewhere in there as there will be a problem with operation. There are three different wire looms across that time period, so you need to find one with a similar PCM to yours... . The gasoline engine PCMs won't actuate the grid heaters on later model trucks, and I think there was an issue about the voltage controller, as the diesels had a larger alternator..... :( Luckily, the '93s are still available in a few places..... http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/s...3&make=Dodge&model=W250+Pickup+4WD&vi=1101362

Thanks We don't have Oreilly in Canada, but my contacts at Dodge can still order me a rebuilt one. There is a core charge so I have to find a no good used one to return. David

I'm aware of that, but the part numbers should be crossable or even the same at Napa or Advance Auto for Cardone and Borg Warner brands..... If nothing else, the OEM part number is listed on the link, which should be crossable at NAPA.....
