in the new isshue of the diesel power . they rank dodge cummins least desirable tow truck of ford powerjoke and chevy dura trash. cant belive it :--) what the world . they also said that it had a dead spot in the power band they must be talking about the 2stroke detroit :D what do you guys think about this crap

I have owned all 3, kept the DODGE!!! I would rather change a lift pump than a motor :D :D

thats no joke . i want them to strap a sled behind those other trucks and see how that turns out hew gets the furthist

actually they put ford first then dodge then chev, the reason they talk about the deadspot and rpm problems with the dodge is because it doesnt have as much,i think i read that since ford and chev have 5 speeds and like 4000 rpm that they always have a place to go where as dodge only has 4 gears(in automatic) so going up a hill with a trailer it either lugs or downshifts which puts it at redline, believe me im a full fledged cummins fan but it could use some more rpm or a 5 speed auto,iv never had a 6 speed that i guess helps alittle. . who knows... we all know wich truck won.

Just had an 05 Dmax, good power, allison is great, fuel mpg stinks, it died @ 6900 miles and is now owned by the dealer again since the finance guy made a mistake and they could get there money from the bank without me resigning :-laf :-laf . A call from my lawyer helped too. Just ordered all kinds of toys for my 99 instead!!

The Duramax and the 6. 0 run great as long as you have it turning 4 grand, which really burns the fuel! I like the low RPM "Grunt" and mileage of the Cummins, not to mention it will drag anything up any hill with ease! :D

my work truck is a 6. 0 and a dog. it has good throttle responce though no tork pulling heavy loads the thing has to be reaming to get any where

AMEN :-laf

Most of our service trucs are Chevy 4500 with the durajunk. I am one of the lucky few, mine is a 95 ram 3500 (Cummins power, of course), and I am NOT letting go.

When the NEW chevy was in the garage and i was on vacation, the other guy was in my truck. He didnt want to give mine back but i told him after my vacation I would fight him for the keys if he didnt give them back :D :D

I've owned all three. I'd NEVER own a GM again. I really love my Dodge 2500 but she is a 53 block so I would suppose my love affair will wane when and if the dreaded crack arrives.

My F450 CC LB Dually 4x4 was a great truck. Mated to the bullet-proof six speed trans, I pushed that rig hard towing my 11,000 lb boat all over the U. S. at 80 mph. The 7. 3 PS is a good motor, IMO. The new 6. 0 ps, on the other hand, is a completely different story. If Ford still offered the 7. 3, I'd consider owning a Ford again. For now, I am quite content with my Cummins powered Dodge. And I love the noise the 24V motors make. :).

oh yea dodge all the way no offence boys lets just say all the others suck . dodge makes it and cummins shakes it-josh

i have the dreaded 53 and i cant let it bother me . i drive hard and it (nock on wood)hase not come yeat if it dose it will be the perfict time to tell the wife i need a new block with a few mods right

man your lucky my wife is in traning about how dodge is mutch better . she is the secrectary at a ford dealor . so they give me aload of crap beacause she married a dodge man . but i get to hear how mutch of a piece of crap those 6. 0ps are nothing but warrinty work ( JUNK) LEAST MY CUMMINS STILL RUNS -JOSH

I used to be with the Chevy forum with a 6. 5. The problems there seem to be of a much more serious nature. Then when they said it would cost you 4 grand to do new injectors on the LB7 first gen Duramax at a dealer, I sold the 6. 5 and bought a real oil hammer CTD. :D

I have a 6. 5l sitting in an H1 Hummer in the driveway. It is OK, but when it comes to towing, I love my Cummins. It will tow way more weight much faster than I should go and other than one VP44, I have had no problems with it.

Just look at the design, the I-6 will naturally produce more torque than any V-8. Also, when I start that 6. 5l on a cold day, it sounds like a rod is comming out of the block.

I love my Dodge. The only problem is, Dodge needs a 4500 and 5500 (In the US).

We have three 05 Duramaxes here. They pull fine once you get them wound up. But, boy do they suck getting it started off the line. Amazing that all the folks who regularly drive the Duramaxes personally own CTDs :-laf :-laf :-laf

yea i know what you mean . how is the sirvice for chevy. do they know much about the engine. i have heard mixed resalts-josh

cummins is by far the best motor ...

but dodge has by far the crappiest automatic, and most trucks are ordered that way ... face the facts it's true

personally i hope dodge gets nothing but bad reviews, that may shame mother mopar into making a decent automatic ...

chevy is gettin' ready for the release of their SIX speed allison ... and we're all running off to DTT, ATS, Suncoast ... etc to plunk down a few grand to keep the best diesel in the industry from smokin' another transmission

correct me if i'm wrong but dodge sells less trucks than either of the other two but has a much larger aftermarket for their autos

the law of supply and demand can't be wrong

i just hope the germans play it smart and leave the cummins in place and find me / us an automatic worthy of the motor
