In June of '06 we'll be moving to southern California just outside of Temecula. I'd looking for a dealer in that area to service my truck 2004. 5 3500 Dually and my Charger. I'm leaving a great dealer in the Chicago area. I've owned two diesels and have had good service deptartments on both. Hope someone in the area can give me a recommendation. Thanks

So cal dealers

TravlinRam,

I have good service with Rancho Dodge on Balboa Av in San Diego. it is about 50 miles from the Temecula area. They service my 4. 5 using my own filters, oil, etc. Took care of one minor warrenty issue for me involving the tail lights. Did the reflash for white smoke and poor milage for free. They told me it would cost 90 dollars because the truck did not have any of the problems associated with the re-flash,(I was looking for better milage) but did not charge me after it was done. Here is the best part; user friendly hours. Normal service work is available Friday evenings and Saturdays. Parts department is open until 1:00am every night. Some times I drop the truck off Friday after work, pick it up Saturday morning. Other times I make an appointment for Saturday at 8:00 am, get some breakfast accross the street and read the paper for an 1. 5 hours and the truck is done. I have not given them any tough jobs, but I suspect they are capable of doing one. They are not cheap, but nobody in So cal is. I have not tried any other dealers, so I cant compare. I wont trust any of the regular service station bozos with my truck. If you need parts for the engine, there is a good cummins dealer in El Cajon(about 20 miles east of SD). Hope This helps,

DBabcock

Stay away from... . FAR away from NORM THIEVES (REEVES) in Temecula... . these clowns have no clue on ANYTHING... service manager is a joke... . I end up fixing something and or tightnening something AFTER these yayhoos get ahold of it :-{} ... now I have paint peeling on my front bumper and the shop the use for warranty work is worse than they are... I will be paying for my own repaint thank you!!... ... Moss Motors (is where I purchased my dually)in Riverside is great unfortunatly they are geographicaly retarded (40 miles away)... my two cents

Cameron

I second staying away from the dealership in temecula... . it's horrid! I go to the Dodge Dealer in Hemet/Perris (about 20 miles North of Temecula)... . they predominately sell trucks, and I've been very happy with their service and prices... .

Thanks guys for all the info. I Knew it would't take long to get a response. Special thanks concerning the Temecula dealer. I drove past them last spring when we were out there visiting my son. This dealership sounds alot like the one just two blocks from my house. I would'nt trust them to air up a bicycle tire. I landed up buying my truck in

Joliet, Il. 40mi. away. All they sell is diesels. It's well worth the trip. I won't have any problem driving to San Diego or Riverside. By the way for you replanted Chicago guys,

Portillos opened up a store in Buena Park. My son took his wife up there last saturday

night for a Chicago style dog. All there supplies are flown in daily from Chicago. They have plans to open several more resturants in So. Cal.

Portillos??... great... there goes my diet!!!!..... thats ok... . we will get you like In and Out Burger!!!... seriously look me up when you all move out here... lots of stuff to do out here... I have a flathead coupe that I take out on the weekends along with bunch of other people... . I am one of the few with a Dodge 3rd gen dually tho... this town is full of ridiculousy lifted Fords... .

Hemet Chrysler center will treat you AWESOME. Have nothing but great things to say about them. THey are AWESOME. They are located about 15 miles from you. I think one post above mentioned them!!!! Riverside is quite a bit further. Ask for Dani Ackerman as your service advisor. He monitors this board and is GREAT!!

Funny, I drove by that Portillo's restaurant today. I hadn't been past that mall since before Christmas and hadn't noticed it before. Very trendy looking building and now that you are recommending it, I will try it out.

When I had my first REALLY BIG serivce on my 2003, I "price-shopped" by phone (Riverside, Ontario, Corona, San Bernardino, Indio, Temecula) and settled on Hemet Dodge -- Indio was slightly cheaper but the cost of driving there and back from Riverside took them out of the running. After all calculations, Hemet Dodge was the least expensive and I was satisfied with the service and the price. On the other hand, since then I've been going to Moss Bros. Dodge in Riverside (for one reason and another, nothing to do with the service I got in Hemet) and have been satisfied with their service and prices. Recently, Moss Bros. helped me get an out-of-warranty part replaced for free, based on my "good customer" record -- notwithstanding that I bought the truck in Ada, Oklahoma not in Riverside, California. On the third hand, my entire service experience has been limited to 4 dealers -- Hemet, Riverside, Ada and Mt. Vernon, Washington (who are OK, but not as "customer-friendly" as Moss, in my opinion). In some respects it's all a crappe shoot: I remember a post here about 2 years ago where 50% of the members making comments praised a particular dealer, and 50% of those commenting excoriated the same dealer.

I live in Menifee, and agree about Norm Reeves. I was just there this morning with my 5500 for a parts return. The salesman could not get over the fact that I had a 5500. He asked me if it was a 1 ton. I told him that it was a 1. 5 ton and that I got it from Mexico. When I drove away there was another salseman looking as well. I can't beleive the salesmen do not know their own product.

I do all my own work and have been purchasing parts either from genos or the hemet dealer. I have checked the prices and found the hemet delaer to be cheaper than norm reeves, hence the return.

If you are looking for expert work try Bob4x4. He works at Fullerton Dodge and lives in Corona. He does work on the side in his garage (low overhead). Do a search and you will find him.

First off In & Out burgers is one of our first stops when in So. Cal. Nothing like them back here. We'll be living at an rv park in Aguanga. We're going to be fulltiming in a 5th wheeler. In late March we take delivery on a Kz Escalade. ASchwartz what year is your 5500. Up until now I did'nt know of anyone owning one. The only way that I would sell my 3500 is if Dodge introduced them in this country. I just don't know what

their waiting for. Ferds had that market conered for years. We've been rving for over thirty years. This will be our 3rd fifth wheel. They keep getting longer and heavier. It would be nice to have the option of upgrading to a 4500 or 5500 series. We can't wait to get out there. Pretty much through with Chicago winters. We should be out there

sometime this summer. We have to wrap things up here first.

Dodge in Temecula

Strongly advise avoiding Norm Reeves Dodge in Temecula. Ridiculous. Went in to have some warranty work done. Was told needed a new transmission... right away, was told it could go any minute, leave me stranded on the side of the road, blah, blah, blah

120,000 miles later, I still have the same transmission, and I been doing lots of towing. Again Ridiculous. Heard good things about Hemet Dodge.

Want to agree with CWChissel... I just used Moss Dodge in Riverside and got treated well. Bought fuel tank skid plate and crossmemeber from them, the parts guy was very competent and paid attention to detail... threw in the bolts for free. I am right at 70K miles now so I took it in to Moss's Service Department and had them check all the 70K warrantee items... they found a leaking pinon seal that is covered. I had the truck inspected by the Dodge dealer in Concord during an oil change a week ago... they didn't find any problem.
