Need help in Ohio

Who's going to SEMA?

We've put our son's old 1988 Ram 50 back in service (30mpg) it's not a bad little beater, with one exception. It's the last year for carburators and the carb is in dire need of replacement. To meet EPA requirments in 88 it has a ton of electronic and vacuum junk. It's a two barrel two stage unit and only has fuel on the primary side. Give it too much throttle and all you get is a big yawn and it falls on its face.

I've taken it down, cleaned everything in sight, used fuel cleaner additive, all to no avail. Last time I checked, a kit was way over a hundred bucks and from what I've read, they usually don't help.

I'm thinking a aftermarket carb or a less complicated eairler junkyard carb that'll bolt on without to much modification off someother vehicle may be the solution.

Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks, RJR
