However my wife's Jetta was not so lucky.

She was following me on I 95 last night. I came up to a complete traffic stop and had to lock them up. Missed the jeep ahead of me by maybe 1/16 of an inch. Wife stopped well behind me. I was just thinking "damn that was close!" and WHACK!!

She got hit from behind by an Audi!! Whacked me into the jeep and pushed it about 3 feet.

Luckily I hit the Jeep's spare tire so no damage to it or my front.

Wife ended up hitting my trailer ball and pivoted into the left side of my bumper. Then there's the damage to the rear of the Jetta. Not too bad, we were both able to drive away, Audi not so lucky, but I popped a rear brake line someplace above the fuel tank so I was really limping home. Glad I have a manual trans, only had to use the brakes 3 times in about 50 miles LOL

Will drop it off at my son's shop in a few and he can look at it tomorrow.

We are both a little sore but that's it.

Thank goodness to lots of iron!!

I'd sue the person that hit you :-laf

Glad to hear you both came out ok, even though your car may not have. Too bad about your jetta, but at least the truck came away with very minor damage.

The Jetta will survive, but I think we will have to work with the body shop and the ins company to keep it from being totalled. Being a 99 it's probably going to be close. But with only 108K on it I we want to keep it and it's almost 50 mpg, even if we have to drive it with scratched up body parts.

For me though I am really considering cashing in the old Dodge... rust is really taking it's toll and this experience shows me it is close to being unsafe... . let's modify that and say I can't count on it's remaining safe due to corrosion.

glad your both safe. . My buddy brought his ramcharger cummins out for ya. . but i heard you were moving the boat to winter storage. . any how . . if they total the jetta let me know. . id be interested in buying it back . . for a engine swap. .

Thanks Deo.

No total to this point... $2900 in visable damage and it's an open ended estimate meaning the ins company and the body shop know they will find more as they take things apart. That also includes whatever extra it takes to fix the ABS system since the impact made the light come on.

FYI I got $877 to cover a new front and rear bumper for the Dodge... . Money to put aside for the next truck.

How much for your 23-26mpg engine? I need to break 20mpg, and have concluded that a swap is my best bet. :-laf:rolleyes:

Glad you all came out of it ok. It could have been worse- your RWAL could have activated and done real damage to your and the other vehicle.
