reading the article that is linked to the TDR homepage mentions the mega cab is going to offered with the hemi. Are they not going to introduce it with the Cummins?

I was wondering the same thing? They also said the cab "cut" into the bed, does this mean you will not be able to get an 8' bed w/ the mega cab? Also will they offer it in a 3500 SRW or DRW?... ... we may have to wait and see. Now I am wondering if I should wait and not buy the 05, it should be here next week???

Avoid believing everything the Detroit News tells you. They don't have to sweat the small stuff, so they miss a lot of small details. DC will make a press kit with specs when the truck is introduced at Chicago - that will be the info you need.

It will be available with the Cummins. It will also get the new 6. 1 hemi that comes out next year. Unfortunately, i think it will have a shorter bed than the short boxes now, although we'll have to wait and see.

I'm guessing the Mega Cab will probably maintain the same shortbed Dodge currently uses. However, with the extra 20 or so inches the new cab will have I bet the wheelbase/chassis will be the current Quad Cab 8' bed chassis.

As for the Cummins being offered I am not 100% sure. Read this thread https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122511 and see if you agree or disagree with me.

On another website forum a Chrysler engineer says that one of the mega cab test mules has a Cummins. Now it could be that, just like the Power Wagon, it is initially introduced w/ the hemi, then later the diesel.

I truly hope the Cummins is offered. However, if the current GVW's remain the same for a 2500 and 3500srw I can't envision much in the way of payload. I really want the room of a crew style cab. But, I also want it to be a SRW capable of hauling my fifth wheel. As it stands now my 2500 is maxed out when you add the weight of my toolbox, hitch, and camper pin weight.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to do what Steve said and sit tight until Wednesday.

AS I understand it, the "mega cab" will not be offered with an 8' bed, and it will not be offered in the dulley either... ... ... ... . just the 3/4 and 1 ton SRW trucks. If they offer it in the 8' bed, they would have to make the truck MUCH longer than it already is, and they are using the current LWB chassis to put the Mega Cab on.

I hope they make it in a true long bed. So what if it's a little longer. The fullsize 4 door Chevys and Fords are big with the 8' bed. Pleeeeeaaaase, Dodge, don't make me buy a Ford for the full cab and bed! I want it all!:D
