good eye guys. . they moved the tail gate light to the spot between the tail gate and the bumber on the bed... i personally liked the big light below the handle. . this new one is pretty cheap lookin to me. . i guess one good way to look at it is all the new trucks ive seen at my yard have the two holes in the sheet metal, so it would be a simple install if you wanted that light. . ill try to get a close up of it later

Odd, because my 2006 DRW truck came with the light under the tailgate handle and it was made in February of this year. I wonder why there is no light under the handle of the truck pictured in this thread.

Maybe its some sort of 5th wheel/goose neck prep package???

yeah, theres a few on the lot (storage yard, i deliver them) left. . but lately these are all were getting. . again, the big light is much better looking i think

I think the move to have the lights off the gate is great. Now, for those using a 5th wheel type gate, they still have the required lights on the rear of their dually when the trailer is unhooked.

I believe they are suppose to be the same height as the brake lights.

Well think of it this way...



for those that remove the tailgate... .

On my 96 there was no way to Unplug those lights. Cut and solder (crip if you live down south and don't worry about carrosion) was the only way.



Thinking that way... . you have one less thing to worry about when/if you need to remove the tailgate.

I always hated those lights on my Dually. Even worse I hated the ones in the fender.



this new light looks nice. Maybe I will add one to my 3500 SRW. All they are is tail lights, not brake correct? Since I got rear ended in my Jetta, I want to hang as many brake lights on the back as I can get!
