Well my Dad and I were on our way to our usual Sunday breakfast when a Nissan Stanza ran a stop sign. You can guess the rest Dodge hits Nissan - Nissan looks like it hit a brick wall. First let me say that all parties are OK, both of us and the young lady also. The truck will need a new bumper, front splash pan, right inner fender and outer fender. I did have to pry the inner and outer fender away from the the tire but was able to drive it home.

The Nissan was not so fortunate. My truck tore the bumper off and I kid you not the front end was totaled probably the whole car. The Nissan looked like it hit a brick wall. It sure gives you a graffic example of what happens when 6700 lbs of truck traveling a 30 to 35 mph can do to a 3500 lb car in an accident. If she had been 1 or 2 seconds into the intersection she would at least be in the hospital possibly the morgue.

She told the Police officer that responded that she ran the stop sign and, she is covered by insurance.

Good to hear that every one is alright. Every time some one says that something is dangerous or could kill you, I just laugh and say, "You do drive right... . ?"

I know exactly how you feel. A few months ago a fellow stupid kid made a left turn in front of me and I broadsided the passenger side. It was a Hyundai Excell. I was doing about 40 mph, left 60' skid marks (the L. S. D. didn't work. ) Hyundai= totaled, Ram= new front bumper and bumper trim. No injuries. Good luck on fixing your truck. One kid's ego down, millions to go. :D

Bummer BOB!

Great to hear that it was limited to some bent sheet metal and that all involved walked away.

BUT, a heavy sigh goes out for the wounds inflicted to the corner of the First Gen. Hopefully your's was starting to suffer from the dreaded paint peeling and in need of some TLC or paint chip repair! Don't let them put any of those foreign replacement parts on the girl though! :D

Good luck on the repairs... .

Thanks to everyone for your concern. I just got word today that her insurance company is picking up the whole tab including the rental I've got. I've asked for a price to paint the roof as it's getting thin on top just like the driver. Other than the roof it's in very good condition considering it's never been garaged a day in it's life. Once again thanks for the kind words and I'll let you know how the old girl comes out.

Happy Trails

They don't want us to swear on this forum so I won't tell you what it is. Suffice it to say that every time I pass a Fred Meyers or other Supermarket it wants to turn in for more rice. It's transportation which is all I need for now.

Thanks again.

Happier Trails.

Check here for damage.......

Hey guys, I was in an accident a few years ago in a gasser first gen. A guy whipped in front of me in the fast lane and then decided he needed to get back over but was already too close to the other car beside him so he slammed on the brakes. As he had only left me about 10 feet when he cut in, guess what happened next? I slammed him at about 60 mph and he was probably doing 50. Anyway, his insurance paid for my truck (How often does that happen??? I had witnesses:D ) It really didn't hurt my truck that bad in the front end, but something that the body shop found after the fact was that the bed mounts had all been bent forward from the impact. I had a tool box/headache rack mounted in the bed and didn't at first see the damage. The bed had come forward and just barely smacked the back of the cab. You might wanna check this area out before you release the insurance company.

Thanks for the tip James. I had planed to go over the truck with a fine tooth comb. This gives me a place to look that I might have missed.

Happy Trails :)

No problem, Bob......

One problem I did have with the insurance company at first was they tried to claim that I had been rear-ended or had backed into something before the accident with their insured. Fresh crack marks in the undercoating and rust free metal underneath put an end to that idea, and they paid up. :D

Upgrade?

Hey Bob! :)

Seems like and opportune time to upgrade to a nice brushed Aluminum Denver Off Road Bumper to ward off the next import that crosses the path of your D250 First Gen!

Just a thought... & a future wish! :D

It's Baaaaaaaak:) Well I picked up my truck today and it looks like new:D. The work was done by Obrist and Cunningham in Gresham Or just outside of Portland and it looks like new. Total cost was $6,071. 00 . I would recomend them to anyone in need of a "fix" :D. I will do a high speed road test on Sunday to see how everything works. On the ride home all appeared OK.
