Does anybody have the 6.7 with 4.10 rear end?

I'm getting ready to order my Mega SRW and just can't decide on the 4. 10 or 3. 73. I know this has been discussed here a million times but I just can't decide what to get.



I regularly (not daily, probably once a month) tow a 9000lb travel trailer. We are planning on moving up to a 5'er in a few years. In addition, I do tow in the hills.



I'm wondering what kind of mileage you guys are seeing that have the 4. 10 and how much worse it is than the 3. 73???

I get 9 to 12 mpg pulling 32 ft toy hauler and having a 19250 GCVW. Empty I see 11 mpg with city and lots of light, Flat Highway 20 MPG and have a 15mpg mixed diving. 72 mph 1900rpm stock tires

I would have nothing else but a 4. 10. I plan to put 19. 5s on by fall and they are just a touch taller. With the new 68rfe the 4. 10 works great.

My vote is for the 4. 10's but you are going to get a lot of different opinions and reasons why not to from various folks. The last three trucks I have had all had 4. 10's, the first with a manual transmission ('77), the second was with the 4 speed auto ('98. 5). This 6 speed auto works so nice with the 4. 10's

I know there has been varying reports here but what has it been unloaded with the 4. 10's?

So far my MPG is averaging 13. 5 to 14. 0 at just under 5,000 miles total. I expect it to improve some as it gets broke in.

empty Im getting 13 mpg around town 15mpg on highway at 70-75 and towing a car i was getting 12 all highway. My truck is turning 2000rpm at 72 mph. Make sure u get the exhaust brake its awsome. my truck has 1300 miles. hoping for better mpg in the future

I drove my new QC SB 6spd auto 4. 10 TRX4 to our shop last week to undercoat it and then took it back down to the dealer (approx 80 mile round trip) for them to spray the liner in. When I parked it it was displaying 16. 4mpg w/ only 170 miles on it. Pick it back up at the end of the week. ]

I don't have much faith in the accuracy of the overhead display. The first couple of tanks on my trip home from picking it up showed I was getting almost 18 mpg. I haven't seen anything close to that since. If I can eventually get somewhere near what I was getting with my 98. 5/215 HP (16mpg) then I would be very happy. I expected some sacrifice on the mpg going to 350/650.
