Does anybody have the part# for a 4BT "Bread Van" manifold?

Question for those who used a 3rd gen engine in a repower project...

75 Ford F-250 Transmission Choice?

I think I found an engine, but it's got a manifold I've never seen - it's a high-mount turbo, with the exhaust port centered in the middle of the manifold - it doesn't look like it can be flipped to make it a low-mount. Does anybody have a number for the other style, or even a good source for them? Thanks!

I've got a high mount manifold now as well, and I’ve been wondering whether they ever made anything besides the center high mount and the 3-4 low mount. Like maybe a manifold that put the turbo centered but sticking straight out to the side? Both the low and the high mounts are not ideal for my truck clearance wise with the firewall (how to route the exhaust pipe, even with firewall chopping), but seeing how much trouble I’d have to go to to switch the oil return and oil filter manifold, I’d probably not switch to a low mount. If there were another configuration that were better though… I’d be all over it.

If you have the skills to do it, you can easily build a manifold for the 4bt. I have custom built headers before and turbo flange sets for tuner cars. ttammeslehto with the '90 suburban repower in Finnland has some pics to give you an idea of what I am talking about.

3/8" steel plate will work for the head bolt flanges and 1/2" will be fine for the turbo mounting flange. You casn buy pre bent mandrel elbows from numerous suppliers.

I am planning to do this when I get my Suburban's 4bt torn down and mocked up with its dodge auto and transfercase later this winter.

You know, that'd solve a couple issues I have if I just made my own manifold, like you say - might be worth a shot. You get up to GF much? I'm up at Cut Bank.

We're stationed in Maxwell AFB down in Alabama currently, but I've been coming up every few months to check on our properties. I'll be back up in March most likely at the latest.

There is a shop in Great Falls off of the bypass called Water Jet Technologies, if you bring them a template or even the original manifold, they can scan the mounting flanges and then cut your flange plates out of whatever material thickness you want, the edges will be a perfect 90 degree cut with no warping or blueing. I have used them for prototyping disc brake mounts for a few drum to disc conversions I've done lately. They're quality is top notch, hard to beat the finish edge too, even with a plasma cutter.

I you are having troublke finding madrel elbows, check with Pacific Steel, I have ordered them from them in the past for things like this. Its heavier stock than muffler elbows, so you can tig them to the base plates without meltdowns.

I may be able to find something. the 4b came in many different aplications and I have seen some different manifolds. if I have time to look into it I will see what I can find out

Visit your local Cummins dealer. Cummins has an engine option manual that shows all the different exhaust manifolds, trans adapters, starters etc. that Cummins ever made for the B series engines. I found an exhaust manifold for my 4Bt in it when I transplanted the 4BT into an old Dodge Ramcharger. Have fun... ..... Lektrikman

Here lies the problem, there is NO cummins dealer in the Great Falls area. One thought I had afterwards was the Case tractor dealer on the nw bypass. Torgerson's has alot of Case tractors and power units powered by the 4bt cummins. They have several parts lines on these engines for you. Hope you can find a reasonably close solution this way.
