I was wondering what all the hype was about running 2 cycle oil in your fuel? Looks like people are putting in 1 oz per 1 gallon of fuel to help ULSD fuel. I was just wondering if anyone has been adding it and what are the pros or cons. . thanks

I have ran:

2 stroke oil, new motor oil, used motor oil, kerosene, homemade biodiesel...

No issues so far.

I run a quart per fill-up. It has given me a 1 mpg increase. No problems so far after 5 months use.

ARE YOU DRIVING A 2 STROKE? NO!!!!!!!!

So why would you add 2 stroke oil to you fuel. Adding oil of any kind to your fuel will cause you to plug up you fuel filters.

If you feel the need to add things to your fuel do your self a favor & add something that is made to be added to diesel fuel. Do some research & find a GOOD fuel conditioner & stick with it in every tank of fuel

How many miles do you have on your truck?

36k on the clock so far.

I have never clogged a fuel filter. . EVER.

I dont add junk on a regular basis. I ran some Kerosene and added lube oil and the truck ran fine just didnt have the power that #2 diesel had though.

On a regular basis I run pump diesel and a fuel additive like Howe's, or Power Service, or Diesel Power.

I just added it for the first time yesterday. I happened to need fuel and pulled up to a pump that was ulsd. I thought I would try it since I had a quart in the back of my truck. I didnt put it all in though.

I imagine that it would add some lube to the fuel. My only worry is that i could possibly stick an injector at some point if you had any residue build up. I am not an expert on the subject but there is a thread on cumminsforum that has a lot of interesting things being said about 2 cycle oil in your fuel

I would rather run a half bottle of fuel treatment and a quart of 2 cycle than a bunch of trans fluid like the 2nd gen guys were doing. I have 36 K with no fuel filter problems

I have an 06 with just 6K miles. been running 2 stroke (one quart per fill up) for four tanks now. Results so far: slightly less MPG, slightly less noise.....

I can't inderstand all this fuel hype.

Can you imagine if those of us that drive big trucks had to worry about all that faltaral(sp) (sh. . I don't even know what that word means!!!).

We just fill up from what is at the pump of reputable fuel stops. Do the same with our farm tractors for years.

Never a problem yet!!!!! (knock on wood)

No kidding. We have 27 of our own trucks, 6 diesel pickups and have been running ULSD for the past 8 months and have had 0 issuses. Even with our class 8 service shop we have not seen any fuel related problems with customers trucks.

I would seriously reconsider running any kind of oil in our newer trucks with a cat and/or a particulate filter. They are not designed to work with the added byproduct from such a additive.
