Latest news on the Jeep Rescue?

A while back (1 or 2 years) there was a thread posted that had the duty cycle/life expectancy of the big three pickup diesel engines. It was either a quote or a link to a DOT publication on the engine ratings.

It said something like this;

International 7. 3 Powerstroke 170,000 miles to replace/rebuild (R/R)

Isuzu Duramax 200,000 miles to R/R

Cummins 5. 9 ISB 400,000 miles to R/R

It was a pretty long article (a couple of pages).

I found one from Big_ Daddy_T (?) on EPA emissions ratings, but that was not it.

Anyone remember this thread?

I do not specifically recall the one your talking about. As I do recall the durmax had a decent life expectancy rating. Ive done some serious research into the PSD and have found both discouraging and encouraging results. Some failed at a young age. Some lived long lives. Neither have approached the longevity of some of the hotshot cummins. I have looked for early failure cummins and they are few and far between. I attribute that to the i-6 design and it being a solid platform. I dont understand some of the v8 (hp is all that matters) freaks that do not know the longevity of the i-6. "the 302 will last as long or longer than the 300". Cough, cough BS. The 300 9 times out of 10 will outlast the 302. ITs a fact. A lot of v8ers just dont know. Its appalling to me but ive never been driven by hp numbers. Im too secure with myself. No overcompensation required. Not saying the pursuit of hp is overcompensation but if your rockerpanels are over your head maybe there are some issues present.
