2025 order run around

2025 Ram 2500/3500 6.7 Cummins

Thanks for the link, that is the first filter I have seen. I ordered one. I check with Geno's almost daily but nothing yet. They do show on page 6 of their paper catalog the Fleetguard LF16453 is coming soon. Fuel filters? forget it. Same thing I found when I bought my '21, fuel filters always on back order. This was 3 years of production on the '19+.

So yes, I am concerned because the track record speaks for itself. $95 Mopar oil filter grips me, as does your comments in post 12 & 14...

Filters weren’t available in ‘21 thanks to Covid. This was a problem across the board and has nothing to do with the application.

Yeah it’s frustrating that the product was put into service before the supply chain is up and running for regular maintenance items, but I suppose that just one of many reason it’s not recommended to buy the first year of something. This change is substantial and that rule definitely holds true here.

It had everything to do with application. The primary fuel filter. All the rest were available, Covid just slowed them down some. Mopar saw fit to be the only supplier of the primary, Fleetguard didn't even offer it. My '21 was three years in, first year production wasn't part of the issue.

At least it appears that Fleetguard will also supply all the new filters for the new trucks. Pretty sure they will be somewhat cheaper than Mopar. Availability will be an issue. My guess, is, the engine production is taking them all.

The price is ridiculous as with almost every new part coming out. But also makes it more attractive to the aftermarket which won't take long. They'll step in soon.

most of the things a person can only purchase at the dealer have ridiculous prices.
it's like a sucker game if you have to go there for anything.

I needed the o rings that go on the EGR cooler while in Canada.. wanted genuine because I was on my way to Alaska..
part listed for less than $2.50 USD at Cummins
paid $38.00 each Canadian at the Ram Dealer in Smithers BC.. which is about 30 dollars USD each.

Ha, had the same experience in Williams Lake, needed a pressure sensor for the 48RE, rhey wanted 180C$ at the dealer and 160C$ at Napa. I limped it to the US the get it for a fraction of that.

Also needed a rear view camera for the Durango, MoPar wants crazy 750$ for that little thing, of course I bought from the China man for 25$ and it works..
Same time the 4x4 controller went south, Mopar 350$ for it, the China man 120$.
China shut up and take my money!!

I'm someone like Banks or FASS will make an adapter to convert it to a standard spin on filter that can be found anywhere.

To go back to the title of the thread, this forum is the only place I’ve seen the engine labeled “evolution”. Google turns nothing up for it.

Nah, it was far more than the primary fuel filter. The air filter and cabin filter were also affected, as well as the Donaldson DBL7349… and that’s just this application. The air and oil filters weren’t just 3 years into release.

Many other vehicles also had filter shortages due to Covid mask “priorities”.

Why?
The aftermarket will make filters within a blink of an eye, there is absolutely nothing special on a cartridge filter.
Only thing they need to start the process is hands on a factory filter for measurements.

those drop in oil filters on new cars are nice.. wife's car has one, unscrew the lid, swap filter and o ring... done... no mess, and EZ as can be.

The drop in for my wife’s rig is definitely messier than any other oil filter setup we have, but it is a pretty easy swap being front and center on the engine.

really? ours is on top of a GM 3.6 V6. isn't even any oil in filterhousing when the engine shuts down.
then again, I think some engineers are required to take a course on how to make things difficult that should be easy.

They canceled my order. I have not seen anyone on several forums that can find any. Maybe a good thing for the delay in my new truck. I have the Mopar HD mud flaps and Westin side steps waiting for a truck:)

I see Geno's now has the Fleetguard primary fuel filter for the '19-'24 trucks for $20 less than the Mopar.

I also removed my air bags and power hop damper kit. I looked at the new 2500's and the boss is still cast in the top of the rear axle for the damper kit. I was glad to see that.

ever noticed that pricing structure between the 2 brands bounces around, and sometimes the Mopar are cheaper.. albeit not by much but it isn't consistently Fleetguard being cheaper all the time.

IIRC about 3 weeks ago Mopar Giant had them in stock for about $30 less then other places so I'm sure that is why they sold out

I saw this earlier when I was poking around for a bulk set of filters for my EcoD. Meant to mention something this morning, but thanks @NIsaacs for reading my mind.

Agreed, looks like Fleetguard will be available about the same time as the Mopar. Way more affordable.

always amazed me the difference in markup between the 2 brands.. knowing they are one and the same.. also explains why Ram Engines are now locked out of Cummins Quikserve Online, making it slightly more difficult to purchase OEM Cummins parts a a Cummins Distributor.

I suppose that is why dealerships are also known as "stealerships"..

not unlike me paying 38 dollars for a Mopar EGR cooler oring at Frontier Dodge Ram Jeep in Smithers BC Canada that I know listed for less than $2.50 at a authorized Cummins dealer in the US.
