They haven't had a good idea in years. I would guess that Dieter Schmidt's suggestion box contains, aside from the usual suggestions to commit anatomically impossible feats upon himself, a few requests to raise parts prices even higher at the dealers, assign two people to reading the TDR all the time, and a proposal to contract with Rubbermaid to build truck beds as soft as the ones on the Duramax.
I don't think they should be paying their current ad agency!
I cringe every time I see the new 'Mayor' ads. Don't get me wrong, I like Aerosmith OK. . but 'Just push play' to sell a truck? I think they are just trying to sell the new Aerosmith CD instead.
Compare that to the current 'Like a rock' and 'Built Phord tough' ads where they try to show how tough the trucks are and how they are intended for 'manly men'. Not that I think the other two brands are as good as my CTD , but their ads are certainly better. Who the Heck is DC trying to reach?
If I hear the "Like a rock" jingle one more time I think I'll gag. Ford tough isn't far behind. Ford and Chevy must have run out of ideas. I like the Dodge advertisements. They come up with new and very different approaches to market their vehicles. I've even grown to like the new body style on the 1500 Ram. But then I've always been open to new ideas and grow tired of old stuff after awhile.
