Someone told me the other day that "revving" a diesel is not good... that the engine should not see high rpm without a load on it. Is this right? Sometimes I've put the TST on 9/9 and punched it a few times at idle to puff a couple clouds... maybe this isn't good? --Eric

it doesn't matter, but for some reason I think free revving a diesel is kinda lame

a short little blat of the throttle? fine, but when guys rev their trucks to 3-4k, it just seems kinda "three dollar bill" to me

Diesel shops working on a motor will "free rev" a diesel ... ... ... ... I've free reved my '99, but I don't remember doing it to my '03. Like Mr. Nearing, I dont really see the point as a show off other than a "burp", but you need good exhaust to get that effect.
