I am selling my 99 and the guy buying it is worried about warranty work. He was wanting to have the dealer look it over before he bought it. Is there any way they can tell besides where the scotch locks were.

I figured only if they really look into it and for it. It is a 75 year old farmer that is going to beat the crap out of on his farm. I would doubt they would investigate on it to much.

remember the ECM never lies

all out of parameters are stored in the ECM

Remove the box but all tell tale signs are stored in the ECM :(

No I went and had it done today and it showed over boost. Erased codes and took a little liquid black tape and fixed the wire tap marks and done no trace. It was taken to the pickiest dealer in SW Missouri and they found nothing. :D Truck sold done deal:cool:

The ECM sees the box as a "fuel fault. " I have seen it plenty of times. Yes, it is eraseable--but only with Cummins software. [/i]

Evan... ... Does this hold true for any fueling box such as the EZ? I thought that these boxes were undetectable??

ANY box--whether they are a wire clip type or not--will leave a message in the ECM indicating a fual fault. EZ, VA, Blue Chip... It doesn't matter, they all set the same fault.

Evan... . They will set a fuel fault code in the ECM even if they are working properly?? I dont understand why all the advertising and buzz regarding these boxes says that they are undetectable. Could you explain further... . I really would appreciate an education on this. Thanks!!

There are a few threads out there on this... .

As I understand it from everything I've read, the ecm stores values and codes... . codes can be read anywhere... .

Some of the boxes ex. EZ leave traces that a cummins shop can detect, but the DC software can't?

OR Did I get all of this wrong?

I imagined that the ecm stored a certain range of output/input values to use in its self tuning logic..... this data would definately show values that were outside the norm for unmodified engines if you had a box hooked up.

Challenger,

If you want more power for your truck, forget about your engine warranty, buy an EZ or equivalent and/or injectors and enjoy your new-found power... If you care that much about your warranty, wait until it expires and then you can bomb the he11 out of your truck without worry of voiding your warranty. Either way, you need to decide for yourself!:D :D
